My PSVR2 arrived this morning and I can say that GT7 on VR is as amazing as people are saying.
Unfortunately however I'm clearly not cut out for VR as I lasted 30 seconds of track driving before feeling sick
I'm really disappointed as it looks absolutely stunning, however I still don't feel right and it was over 2 hours I was on it so it's going back. I'm interested to hear if anyone else's experiences.
Same for me. I’m blown away by the tech but the way I feel afterwards is putting me off using it. When I play GT I like to do long sessions but with this I doubt I can manage more than 15-20 mins at a time. Head is spinning for hours afterwards. Not a nice feeling at all so I’m likely sending it back too.Unfortunately however I'm clearly not cut out for VR as I lasted 30 seconds of track driving before feeling sick

Everyone says you need to get used to it.
So tonight I took a motion sickness tablet, chewed gum and played the much more sedate kayak game. Hoping to gradually get my brain used to it. I must have done over 30 minutes and I feel absolutely fine.
Might call it a night now and try GT7 in the morning.
Some tips
https://www.gtplanet.net/7-easy-ways-to-avoid-moti...
Having spent many, many hours on Assetto corsa on VR, mainly drifting. My main tip is don't crash I'd generally be okay with driving for the most part but it's when you have a spin/crash I always felt a bit glonky. If I knew I was sailing off in to the gravel and couldn't recover I'd just close my eyes for a couple seconds until the car stopped moving.
Also worth keeping a fan on you to keep you a bit cooler. Aside from that it's just a case of getting your sea legs.

I can do beginner and intermediate but after that, no chance!Paul_M3 said:

I'm interested to hear how you get on, I watched the video from GT Planet and noted some of their tips (chewing gum, motion sickness tablets, pick a slow convertible etc.) but I'm not going to try it again, it just made me feel horrible and I'm not compelled to give it another go. Everyone says you need to get used to it.

I’ve literally just finished a little session on GT7. Before I started I took a motion sickness tablet. I had a fan blowing on my face, and was chewing gum. I also spent a bit of time getting the headset positioned as perfectly as possible.
The difference between today and when I first played is night and day.
I have just done a 10 lap race in GT4 cars at Red Bull ring, followed very quickly by a 5 lap race in a modern tuned Corvette at Trial Mountain. I also did a couple of laps around Brands Hatch GP in the Honda RA272.
I basically felt fine the whole time, and although I’ve stopped because I don’t want to push my luck, I still feel ok.
After the first time I tried not only did I feel sick at the time, I still felt sick several hours later.
Im pretty happy right now, as after the first time I was convinced there was no way I was going to get used to it, and was already thinking about the possibility of needing to sell it.
Obviously VR is a very individual thing, but I doubt many people felt as bad as quickly as I did the first time I played it. So if I can improve this quickly, it should give others in similar positions a bit of hope.
I just tried vr2 with gt7 for the first time and feeling ok after just 5 laps round Grand Valley. No gum, tablets or fans, but did take a slow open top out. Did feel slightly odd a couple of times with the car sliding, but feeling good. I'll build up to some faster cars later. I have used VR1 before though.
But as others have commented, the display is a big improvement on vr1, but still quite grainy. Impressive though how you can see your own head moving in the reflection from the dials, the wheel (if it has a shiny centre cap), and even your shadow on the road !
ETA - just completed the Grand Valley 5 lap 600pp race - great fun and still feeling OK.
VR Showroom is quite nice. Inside the car it feels like you can reach for the seatbelt and put it on !

Can you adjust the distance you are from the steering wheel with the VR2? I've seen a few videos and they have to keep turning their head to see the rear view mirror and the driver's-side mirror as the mirrors aren't in centre view, using peripheral vision would be far better. One daft question, I know driver view is good but, can you switch to bonnet-cam or roof-cam views?
TIA

You can’t adjust the distance from the wheel using settings, but there is a way to sort of do it. If you want to move further away from the wheel, lean forwards and reset your position by holding down the option button. When you then sit back in your normal position you’ll be further away. TIA
VR is cockpit view only.

This is really interesting. Like you, I pretty much felt sick within the first 15 seconds. I felt awful for hours afterwards and I was pretty adamant that I was going to return it, however after your latest update I'm questioning if I should give it one last try.... The ones I used were called Kwells. I had them in the house because I actually got motion sick when driving my real car round Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch last year. I used to get bad motion sickness when I was young, and although I’ve been fine for years it seemed to come back a bit on track last year at certain circuits. I just did another session on the game, including a total of 15 laps at Spa. The Kwells say to take every six hours, but the only one I’ve taken today was this morning. I didn’t have the fan on this time either. I still felt ok. I’m wondering if you can use the tablets to get through some sessions and that’s enough to start training your brain to deal with it.

OK, you've inspired me to give it another go. I'll go and pick up some Kwells in the morning, get in an MX5 on the Daytona oval and see how I fare. 215mph on the Mulsanne, 400hp and 500kg and drinks fuel like a mouse drinks water!
It would do the whole thing without coming into the pits but the tyres would be shagged, so you may as well stick it on 1 and pit once, all weather dependant of course. 215mph on the Mulsanne, 400hp and 500kg and drinks fuel like a mouse drinks water!
Thanks to Paul_M3's tips I've been able to have a couple of short (10 mins each) sessions today and didn't get any nausea.
Chewing gum, fan and Kwells seem to have done the trick. I did feel a bit odd when I spun out once and the undulations of Brand Hatch appeared to be asking for trouble so I didn't stay there for long, but otherwise it was a much better experience all round. I stuck to MX5's although I did move on to a racing variant.
You do appear to sit pretty high up in the car, I'm not sure if this can be manipulated/adjusted?
I'm not sure if I'll return it now (I probably won't) and might take a look at the Kayak Mirage game which looks pretty interesting.

Glad you had a bit of success mate. I think it only gets easier from this point on. Chewing gum, fan and Kwells seem to have done the trick. You can adjust your position in the car with a bit of a bodge. Holding down the option button for 3 seconds resets your position. So if you sit up artificially high and then reset you position, when you sit back down properly you’ll be lower down.
The same trick applies for moving backwards and forwards.

Customisable Manual Gearbox - Get those ratios nice and tightly stacked.
Ballast - Driver weight, and set position in car for balance.
Brake Balance Adjuster - Bias towards the front a little.
Tyres - Leave the Hard Racing, plus Inters & Full Wets (just in case).
A few little suspensions tweaks, and, er nothing else - no power increase needed.
You get a little mugged for the first couple of laps, but after that you can do the whole race on one tank and one set of tyres as the Hards barely wear at all. Zero Stops !
If you get a rainy one just stop for the Full Wets and carry on.
In fact you can do the whole race on Inters or Wets, and again never have to stop.

Good thing Sophy can’t report you for poor sportsmanship. I batter them off the track in the 1 vs 1 then a few corners later they’ve already caught back up with me.
