new Honda 272 thingy is a beast and fits handily under the 700pp, even in tuned form

215mph on the Mulsanne, 400hp and 500kg and drinks fuel like a mouse drinks water!
It’s my new favourite car. It’s a joy to drive. I want a track car that handles exactly like the RA272.
I prefer it without the extra power.

yeah Honda 272 is very fun to drive. They have made the DLC much better in this game than GTS (anyone remember nonsense like the Yaris)

got it down to 4.07 on racing meds, I think 4 flat is possible.

PS5 ordered today, should arrive this week along with GT7.

Not quite going to chuck the money at it for wheel/pedals yet, but that's in the pipeline. Been a long time since I played GT, so very keen to see how good this one is.

Does it have many UK tracks? Played an older version over Christmas but only had Brands Hatch from memory.

Keep a look out for second hand wheels and seats (and PS VR2s). I got my wheel and seat for about £250 total.

Damn, was hoping for more. Is it Goodwood the race track or the hill climb?

Oh cool, it was just the hillclimb on the one I played, and Goodwood is now pretty much the only track I take my actual car on, so that's a good result!

smacked a 4.02 with the Honda 272.., Audi Quattro seems to have been nuked and is about 10s a lap slower than before (still around 4 min)

Do people buy the weird art deco cars for 20m? Do they have any thing potential?

You can tune them both a reasonable bit yes. Surprisingly fast off the line, but they don't amount to much in terms of top speed because the aerodynamics are distinctly lacking

laugh

The Merc Barker you can tune to 359bhp and stage 3 weight reduce, which takes it down to 990kg!

The Alfa 2900 you can tune to 329bhp and again, stage 3 weight reduce to 1,021kg

Both end up with 625-635 pp with racing hards. Not really decent enough for Le Mans.

Currently installing/downloading/copying or whatever it's called onto my new PS5! Looks like I won't actually get to play until lunch break tomorrow though.

Anyone know why it's rated so badly on the user scores here?? https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-5/gran...

The 2nd review on there gives a score of zero, based on a generic complaint about modern gaming…

I would be playing the game right now. But GT7 servers are down due to maintainance, so I decided to use the time to open account here and write this review. Whoever decided to make single player game dependant on servers availability was not thinking clearly.
I suspect the score is heavily influenced by early reviews based on what was a disappointing game at launch. However the continuous free upgrades have vastly improved the game.

There are still many (valid) complaints about the game.

The awful ticket lottery thing. The lack of long endurance races. The cafe menus are worse than the previous game progression systems. The game lobbies are still worse than previous GT games. The online race penalties are quite a lottery, etc, etc.

Basically it's probably the worst iteration of a GT game so far. If it wasn't for the PS VR2 I suspect that GT7 would have the worst drop off in players in the series.

GT Sport didn’t hit its stride until a couple of years in. Kaz has been pretty clear that the launch day GT7 was the start of a multi year journey.

You think you've got it bad. I've got nine cars left - Group B road cars and a few GT3's AND....the Veneno.

I don't have a ticket for a Veneno.

So I can't buy the Veneno.

How long will I have to keep trying with the driving marathon to get a ticket?!!! Who can say?

Days?

Weeks?

Months?!!!

It's possible I might never get one!

Little tip: if you get a ticket....buy it.

Don't even get me started on engine swaps. I've had, legit 3 in my normal gameplay. I'd have to play the game till.... my deathbed presumably, and not get them all.

AND THEY KEEP ADDING MORE!!!

It makes no sense!!!

Not played it yet so no idea what this ticket thing is all about. Don’t tell me I’m going to have to spend real money in this game?

"We're going to deliberately make the game worse than previous games and ps off all the fans, then very, very, slowly incrementally make improvements so that eventually, some months or years down the line, it might be nearly as good as one of those previous games. Even though some core decisions we've made, like the ticket lottery and the cafe menus, mean it'll almost certainly never be as good as previous GT games".

In all honesty they've made more work for themselves than they needed to. Just take GT4, or GT5 and update the graphics to PS5 level. Keep all the same tracks. Maybe add a couple more. Change the menu system to make it look different. Address some of the minor issues the community had about those games. Done.

They should give GT to the same team that spit out new versions of FIFA every few years and then give FIFA to PD to recreate every 10 years.

There's this thing called the driving marathon. Drive at least 26.2 miles in a day and you get a ticket. That ticket gives you a prize on a roulette wheel (which isn't really a roulette wheel, there are five things on it but there's not a 1 in 5 chance of winning one, it's heavily rigged to the worst prize)

By chance, you can win a three, four, five or six star ticket. Prizes tend to be better the more stars. But there's a low chance of winning a five or six, most days you get a three or four star ticket.

The invites to be able to buy a certain car only appear on these roulette wheels. Usually with three or four star tickets

You can also win tuning parts (which you can't sell), credits, cars and engine swaps. Most of the time you'll be winning 10k or 30k credits.

It's...probably the worst thing about the game, because engine swaps are only available here, and it's obviously rigged.

And engine swaps are hilarious! So it's a shame. Last year there was a glitch where you could keep getting engines so a lot of people, myself included, stocked up on them, but I missed out on one or two and since then they've added more engine swaps - whenever there's been a big update - and the chances of winning them are tiny.

Full list here, under (obviously) engine swaps:

Wow ok doesn’t sounds like the sort of thing I’m a fan of.

Can you explain to me how to just race an arcade race?
I’ve had it on for 15 mins now and all I’ve been able to do is watch a tedious intro video and now some woman talking me through the world. I’ve had to buy a crap car and look at it in my garage then go to a cafe.
All I want to do is race a corvette zr1 around Goodwood. Please tell me I can do that without spending months on what I imagine is some sort of career mode?
