Anyone playing Shogun Total war?

I've just bought this from Asda for £4.95 and have become addicted. I want to try playing over t'internet now, against real opponants, but unsure how to go about it.

Wouldn't mind trying the Rome and European versions of the game, but I'll wait till the price becomes sensible, i.e. <£5

I used to think Shogun was one of the best games ever.

Then Medievil:Total War came along and took over its place.

Now Rome:Total War is out and its sooo much better you have no idea!

Anyway, you'll probably find the only people still playing Shogun have been playing it for years and are incredibly good so it no longer becomes fun.

My mate has Shogun so if you need someone crap to play against I'll give you a game this weekend.

A quick look round the internet says the demo needs :

Pentium II
32MB RAM
3D accelerator is required
DirectX 7
Sound Card
170MB free HD space

So the full game will probably need a bit more HD space. Remember it's quite an old game now so doesn't need much computing power by today's standards.

Requires 18.5Mb free hard disk space.

That's one of the reasons why I don't want to go online to play, everyone else playing will have had that much more practice than me, they'll whop my arse before I've even started. I tried playing Medal of Honour online once, big mistake. I had 14 year olds calling me names as they shot me in the head. Worm food indeed

You'll need the "Warlord Edition" to get it to work reliably under WinXP. I tried the original edition, and it ran OK for a bit, then hung. Warlord Edition runs fine for me on WinXP, but a friend still can't get it to work!?

'tis a top game for 5 quid. I prefer the campaign game to Medieval's campaign. The battles are very good, but medieval is better.

I have played all three and the techology has got better with each game. However playing the full campaign in Rome Total war is slower, so not everything has improved.

They are of course the best modern strategy games around, making games with the format of age of empires and Civilisation obsolete.

However if I look back over the amount of time I have spent on games I have spent more time on Civilisation 2 than all the Total War Series combined. This is because Civ2 has far better repeat playability becuase of randomised starting locations/worlds.

I am still awaiting the ultimate strategy game, which would combine the stragetic map of Civilisation, with the tactical map of the Total War series.

I have Rome:Total war but the safedisc protection they have trips out on my development machine at home, and so i can't use it

Is it really as good as Rise-of-nations ? That is my current favourite strategy game, focuses a bit on economic aspects too.

I have medieval total war.... great game but the diplomacy is a bit poor to bit honest.. ..could be much better I think..
