Thank you.

And whilst I’m asking stupid questions… I’m still planning to get an external hard drive to boost performance.

But!

I’ve noticed my (1TB) Xbox drive is only 28% full.

So would I actually get any benefit sticking a game on an external drive?

No probs smile

It should do if you switch to something like an external ssd, although the performance boost would likely just be quicker load times and stuff. I haven’t done it so can’t say if it’s worth the outlay

I'd be very surprised if an external drive of any sort made it quicker, as the USB connection (even if it's USB3 on Xbox?) is not going to be as quick as the onboard SATA connection.

You could put an SSD in the xbox (I assume you can replace the hard drive like on a PS4?) and it MIGHT help with loading times, maybe, but in all honesty the game is terribly optimised and it stutters whatever system you're on once the server gets full of 'stuff'. My girlfriend and I play it together sometimes, she has a PS4 Pro, I have a normal PS4, and we get the same level of stuttering in the same situations (the TVs are side by side), it's just the game is poorly done on consoles.

Ah, ok - it's probably not me then, it's obviously just a bit rubbish.

Even when it royally pisses me off, I still find myself going back for more!

After three days of hiking and hiding and I finally made it to the huge airfield and military complex in the northwest.

Like a kid in a sweet shop, I have more guns than I can carry along with plate carriers, pouches, ballistic helmet, the lot.

Now I'm sat in a bush worried I'll lose my amazing kit! hehe

AAAARGH.

Twice now I’ve spent a couple of hours filling a truck to take out to a good base site.

Both times, the truck has glitched and zoomed into the air, killing me and losing everything I’ve gathered.

I can’t believe some of the shoddy glitches in this game.

When this happens, is there any point at all trying to revisit the scene to salvage the truck or my miserable corpse? Or does this kind of thing just despawn the truck and kit?

If the truck (or car) engine reaches a ruined status, then it will despawn.

Seeing all your messages about stuttering - there have been some awful problems recently. There was a new version and a wipe this week, so everything has despawned anyway - but it should be far less laggy.

YES! This was always me when playing with friends, we'd stumble across an oil drum in a town nearby our temporary 'base', and I'd dump it in the middle of the road, and on the way back, pick it up and carry it all the way home hehe

I would also routinely just chuck stuff in the middle of the road if it was unusual, even if we didn't need it, in the hope it'd allow other stuff to spawn in the location it was in, and also so others could find it if they needed it. Was always funny wandering back through a town and realising you'd been this way before because there's a car radiator in the middle of the street getmecoat

I've seen a few bases now where instead of a fence with a gate, they've got a fence M~ADE of gates... so the whole front of an industrial building fenced in, with multiple gates, all of which have a number lock on them.

~What's the advantage of having an entire fence of gates!??
