COD MW2 and Warzone 2
Discussion
For those who have played the beta multiplayer, what's the pace like? Is it like MW 2019?
I played MW2019 a lot and enjoyed the game. Not the best but decent enough. I got bored after getting Damascus and a few Obsidian weapons and moved to Vanguard. Again, not the best game but I still enjoy playing it. Now I have Atomic I decided to play a few MW 2019 games and was astonished at just how slow it plays compared to Vanguard. I don't recall thinking it played slow at the time, but it felt like I was running through mud to get to the other side of the map on Shoothouse.

The combat pacing for MW2 was slower than Vanguard, but then Vanguard had unusually fast pacing because of it's tiered pacing system allowing for crazy busy maps. So I'd say the MW2 combat pacing was fairly standard for CoD games historically, with Vanguard being the outlier.
Movement speed over the ground did feel a bit slow to me, particularly if you were carrying a sniper / LMG. Clearly those guns are intended to reduce movement speed, but the penalty was OTT. I get they don't want people charging round the map quick scoping everyone at point blank range, but it was sufficiently slow that it put me off using them.

Thanks. Interesting and I doubt it will stop me buying it as I'm really bored with Vanguard now despite liking the faster run and gun style of play. Hopefully this is at home waiting for me to play at midnight. Got back into Cod when Bo4 came out, really enjoyed mw 2019 and cold war but thought Vanguard was a complete waste of 60 quid, load of ste. Wasn't going to buy another after that but after playing the Beta I was sold on mw2, graphics on the series X are insane imo.
Looking forward to a new warzone map too, never liked Caldera.

I played Cold War and thought the campaign was ok but the MP was pretty meh. I skipped Vanguard and only bought this as some time off work and I'm mostly done with the heavy grinding for this season of Destiny 2. I'm glad I did as the campaign was mostly excellent.
Some of the achievements are a bit frustrating, but overall the campaign is great. Good story, great locations, a good variety of mission types, loads of guns and they all feel great. It's refreshing to play a COD where the guns don't have that "no muzzle climb at all" feeling that they had in previous games.
Looking forward to casually enjoying the MP when it releases tomorrow.

I played two games before starting work today. I've watched YouTube vids stating all the differences from the beta, but without someone pointing them I out I doubt I'd have noticed most of them. They all seem to be for the better though.
The two things i did notice were that they've tinkered with the menu system to try and make it more intuitive. It's fairly different now but still nothing like as quick and easy as something like the original MW2 was. I think it'll just take a bit of time to get familiar with it.
Secondly the complete re-working of the camo system looks like a great idea to me. The old format had got a bit stale and things like longshot, mounting and bloodthirsty challenges were actively promoting camping in the game. Seems that's largely gone now and the new version looks less grindy, which is fine by me. I don't put anywhere near the hours in to get the mastery camos. A few golds and maybe a diamond will do it for me

I'm think I'm going to buy it next week (it's been an expensive month so far!). Can anyone confirm if there is a hardcore mode? I'm hearing mixed reports. Some say it's not available yet but coming and others are saying that it has a mode called something else but in effect, it's hardcore under a different name.
I'll not be buying it if I can't play hardcore or if it's coming, I'll just wait.

Hardcore has been renamed 'Tier 1' and isn't currently available to play. Infinity Ward have said it's 'coming soon', with no confirmed date. I would speculate it may launch with Season 1, which is the 16 November.
Great. Thanks. I'll hold off until it's launched. sc0tt said:
I hate standard mode. Always has to be hardcore!
I only played hardcore for years, but when Warzone launched I played that a lot and it took me so long to learn how to kill on that as I was used to a couple of shots not 5 or 6.Multiplayer never worked for me after some uploads so haven’t played hardcore for a couple of years now, look forward to trying it on the new game when it’s available.
