COD MW2 and Warzone 2
Discussion
I caved and bought it, had 2/3 games but not feeling it, i mean it’s ok but I find that I’m getting absolutely smashed unless im sweating my backside of it, I still find myself preferring the old games.
I’ve been playing modern warfare remastered, and one thing I’ll say is I absolutely preferred the menus back then, MW2’s menus seem over complicated for the sake of it, although I appreciate most of you will be used to them by now
I do prefer hardcore though so I’ll keep at it until that releases

Started the campaign and it’s epic! Looks ridiculously good on ps5 and a 4k tv.
The install process was a mess though, every time i thought it was finally ready to go I needed to download yet another pack. This dummy disc thing with 70mb on it is a pisstake, as is the fact that the digital version is £10 more.

Played a fair bit over the weekend thanks to having Covid and I'm starting to get more of a feel for it. I was going to complete the base camo challenges for the M4, but I changed tack when how the knew attachment unlock system works finally sank in. For those who are unaware, where in previous games if a gun had, say, 50 attachments, it would also have 50 levels to go through and you'd unlock them all. With MW2, if a gun has 50 attachments it may only have 10 levels and therefore 10 attachments you can unlock by leveling it up. So when you've maxed out the gun, 40 attachments are still unavailable. To unlock them you need to max out 4 other guns, each with 10 levels, until you have the full 50 attachments available. Because attachments are shared between all the guns, when you start the 10 levels for the 5th and final gun, you already have 40 attachments available to you.
The numbers given above are hypothetical for ease of explanation. In practice the guns I've used have 16-19 levels and i don't know how many others you have to level to complete the set. Fundamentally I like the system as it rewards using a broad variety of guns and levelling them up. If you're the sort of player that goes straight for the most meta loadout and only use your 1 favorite class it's unlikely to be for you.
The other main thing I found is it's worth trying to find the early videos showing the damage drop-off values for guns. I moved on from the M4, which felt weak at longer ranges, to the 556 Icarus which is an LMG. That's probably my favorite so far as whilst it slows your movement down a bit, you have a gun that hits hard at all ranges and its easy to use. I had a lot of success with it. Then I moved on to the M16, which is just awful IMO. For my money, a 3-shot burst assault rifle should be harder to use than a traditional assault rifle, but more powerful at long ranges. The M16 is the opposite. To get the best from it you need to think of it as a hip-fire shotgun, which is just weird. At long range you can hump burst after burst into people and nothing happens. That's assuming you hit them as the recoil is all over the place. I've since seen this JGod vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RzjFECBSR0 and from 1min in it has a graph showing damage for assault rifles, which explains why the M16 is so useless most of the time.

I’ve been plodding away with the M4 trying to level up a bit and unlock the FMG ammo but keep trying new guns as they unlock so not there yet.
If only I could dedicate a bit more time to it but as it is I probably only get a couple of hours at a time. It’s going to take a very long time to unlock everything that’s for sure!
Don’t know the maps yet at all but that border crossing map with the cars loves a sniper.

One thing I learned with MW2019 was that I needed to upgrade my internet! I'm getting 950MB and the PS5 is plugged into the router. There were times before I got it that I'd agree to meet up online with mates only to find a 6-hour update Decided to buy and download it last night as my mates were on. Really impressed that it took < 14 minutes to download a 45GB game. I was up and playing in no time.
My impressions after a few games. It's slow, I'll have to get used to the much slower pacing of the game after playing Vanguard since launch. It's not a run and gun game, more plod around the map and take up positions. No hardcore mode yet is really painful and my biggest bugbear. It's easier to spray and pray without worrying that you're going to kill a teammate. The longer TTK means that even if you get the drop on someone, you're still dead as they have ranked up their weapons while I'm still on the default M4 no attachment loadout. The number of deaths which should have been kills was really frustrating. I can't wait for Tier 1 to come.
The maps are OK. They have a more old school COD feel to them although I haven't found a small chaotic map yet. They're all quite big. I'm not familiar with the maps yet so I'm getting picked off by camping snipers a lot and I'm still not sure where to find them when I respawn but that's normal until I get more knowledge.
The game feels quite bare of features. The actual gameplay is OK but so far, it feels more like a beta than an actual live game. I'm not sure if the new Warzone is out yet but I didn't see any link to it on the menus. Looks like there is no battle pass yet either. Seems odd to release a game and make us wait for the content like that but it's early days.
So far, one of my mates really likes it, another thinks it's OK, one hates it and I'm not sure yet. I had a couple of Ok games where I managed to call killstreaks in and also a few games where I literally got like 4 or 5 kills the whole game.
