I'm REALLY looking forward to this, after the shambles that was Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5.

This and Starfield look likely to be the majority of my gaming once they are launched.

Also, I'm disappointed it appears that there are ALOT of car models still not upgraded from FM1.
Never noticed this, which ones? Any images to illustrate?

Intrigued on this one too. By models do you mean the game still includes the same models of car, eg an R34 GTR will be available in both games? or do you mean the renders of the cars have not been changed? I'm pretty sure the must have had a t least a facelift somehow as forza 2 - 7 look very different, you didnt even have cockpit view in FM2 so they must have at least added that?
Or do you mean the physics models for some cars?

Gran Turismo used older cars when transitioning to the PS3 didnt it for GT5? There were loads of the old ones and some nice new ones with cockpit view added for those new ones only. Didnt think Forza had dome that.

It's funny, I played Motorsport from versions 1 to 4, then switched over to Horizon for a more 'fun' open world game - now that series has become a bit dull and repetitive, I find myself wanting to return to Motorsport laugh

I'm also looking forward to this but I hope they do something with career mode, FM7 was a bit all over the place. I'd like a return to the old format where you started off with something very slow and progressed your way through the various specs/series upgrading your car as you went and only needing to buy a new one occasionally. With FM7 it seemed you needed 25 cars by the 5th race with not much emphasis on sticking with one. Don't get me wrong I do love collecting the various cars but it would be great to have more of a progression system.

Also, I'm disappointed it appears that there are ALOT of car models still not upgraded from FM1. They've had enough time to do this and some of them are looking really dated now.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's what they deliver. I'm a fan of all the Forza games don't get me wrong, just cautious after them also saying they were introducing all new aero models and sticking with the same Forza wing for most of the cars rofl

Some examples of old car models still used, the Nissan Silvia, Skyline R32 and R34 are all from the Xbox 360. Loads of threads on Reddit etc pointing out how they're wrong, not just bad quality but just incorrect. It's not like any of those cars have been unavailable for the last 12 titles to rescan or anything but they've just never changed them.

True, however being a US-based developer I can imagine models of such cars to scan/obtain details for are probably somewhat more difficult to get than for a Japanese company such as, say, Polyphony, especially for stuff like R34 GT-Rs when they have only been legal to import for US domestic customers in the past few months.

I personally like engine sounds, and this is one area (of a few tbf) that Forza has always comprehensively trounced GT; Polyphony seem to be aware yet not arsed about doing anything to better their product offering.

Launch announced for October 10th. I'll probably get it as the Game Pass premium add on. I'm away on holiday for the week of October 10th though, so I might get some time with the 5 days early on Premium, or it might get left until I'm back.

Trailer looked fine, I think there's another event/stream Tuesday with more actual details/gameplay. I'm liking the "Build-a-car" mode thing, on the face of it it sounds like what I was asking for. Bit cautious it might be a bit micro-transactional which I dearly hope not given it's almost £100 for the premium version.

Was a bit worried about this as for such a big game it really didn't have that long on the screen and was more interested in pushing the two cars that are going to be included in the game...

Really looking forward to the stream tonight to give us some more insight - the career does sound great. Really hope they stray away from microtransactions too, sounds like what killed Gran Turismo 7 before it had really even gotten off the ground.

One thing i'd really like some clarity on is the actual racing side of it. I appreciate it isn't a full-on sim, but this is where Gran Turismo excels. I've been a fan and a player of Forza since Forza 2, and I still can't believe that we haven't seen a proper flag system with (proper!) yellows and blues - especially since the game has had multi-class racing in it since like forza 4 or something. Really surprised we've not seen anything in the trailers so part of me thinks it probably won't be there. At least we have pitstop animations though! clap

500 cars and only 100 new ones. This is the problem with racing games, there simply aren't enough new cars coming out to keep it fresh. I hope the new Le Mans hypercars make it into the game, especially the Peugeot, though Forza, even in the motorsport games, has been frustratingly focused on SUVs and other rubbish which bloat the lineup and take developer resources away from adding interesting and fun cars.

The Cadillac is the cover car, so at least one new Le Mans car will be in the game.

Quite right, and of cars released nowadays, i'd probably have an interest in 'driving' 0.1% of those in a game.

Still could be worse, could be like GT back in the good old days, with 15 variants of the Mazda Eunos Roadster, 6 different versions of the original Honda NSX/Skyline GT-Rs etc.

As long as I can still put a Chevrolet Nascar V8 in to a Chevrolet Aveo and aviate it down the Mulsanne then i'll be a happy camper.

Yeah pretty sure Forza have rights to the IMSA series so in theory should see all those LMdH cars (I think.....)

Having watched the Showcase, and seen all the advertising that was in the Le Mans 24 hr coverage on Eurosport, I went and bought the Premium update to the standard edition that comes with Game Pass.

It's fair to say I am very much looking forward to this.

I've also purchased an XBox wheel, and made the process of switching from PS5 wheel to Xbox wheel as quick and simple as possible on my wheel stand.

Cannot wait for this, the graphics look nicely polished and I'm intrigued to try out the new physics as well, contact points of tyres, track dynamics etc.

I also hope they have replaced most of the GT3 cars with the newer models and took a good look at the experience of endurance GT racing. The online lobby had some daft track choices in whilst leaving out some of the obvious ones like Silverstone and Laguna secs.

The new Aussie V8 supercars thrown in would be a brucey bonus too.

Just been playing some FM7, I'd like it if they went back to basics this time round, but then get the basics right:

- I play on a 1440p 21:9 display, I have a high end PC so want everything on max. Every week the graphics settings revert to 2160p 16:9 and dynamic graphics quality.
- Less fluff, I still don't see the point in driver levels, every time you finish a race that's 10 minutes long you level up and choose between a car, 50k credits, or cosmetic item. Similarly get rid of unskippable podium celebrations and the narrator that tells you that racing cars are fast!
- Mods were pointless too, get rid of them
- Might just be me but I find the menus confusing to navigate, creating a custom race takes a while! Would like to see an improvement here.
- Career mode/menus felt really disjointed, prefer the style of the older games

I was screaming around Le Mans in a 787B earlier. They get the sound right, the handling could use an upgrade but it's at least accessible with wheel or controller. It's just the other bits really. Visually FM7 still holds up so I'm not desperate for more there.

Watched the preview on Tuesday, I *think* I like what they're doing with the whole car XP thing. I do like the idea of forcing you to drive the car stock for a while before you can upgrade it and it's interesting that upgrades won't cost the same currency as new cars and you get the full cost of upgrades back if you remove them.

The weather and time of day cycle looks very good as you'd expect, I also thought the updates to the tyre noise were pretty good as well.

My biggest take away though was that it LOOKED fast when driving at 70/80mph. WIth a lot of driving games (NFS especially), you really don't get a sense of speed anymore. With the gameplay, they showed to me at least it seemed like they had this covered.

Forza is one of the few games I buy every time so I'll be shelling out for the top version I think, if it's anything like previous entires I'm sure I'll be getting my money's worth.

Motorsport 7 is well over 5 years old, and it does show (although it's still a decent game to be fair). I really hope the menus are improved a LOT in the new one.
