Not as of yet, gonna try and give the normal one a go tonight. Been away for work last couple of nights so didn't get to finish off most of my pinnacles from last week and didn't get a chance to even look at what is in rotation for this week ha. Going to be a while until i'm GM ready though, i'm still only like 1816 with my artifact.

Is banner back this week or next too? I heard they were doing it like 4 times in a season now or something?

GMS will be interesting this season. I think you can go in slightly under-levelled. I'm only around 1822 myself (Hunter only, warlock and Titan both slightly behind that) so will give them a try regardless.

I think iron banana is this week (Eruption gamemode) but, I already have the weapon I wanted (Heros burden with destabilising & feeding frenzy) so, not sure I'll bother this week.

Anyway, back to the game. Has anyone tried the new Lake of Shadows yet? I've not tried it yet but, have heard mixed reports...
I heard they added anti-speedrun mechanics like having to escort the vehicle up the first area of the strike and a mini boss along the route. Is it the nightfall this week? I haven't played it yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Regarding Wavesplitter and Hollow Denial, I have a goof HD with Killing Tally that is good for room clearing when volatile rounds are active, but the beauty of the Wavesplitter is the auto-reload on orb collection and the suppression effect on orb collection, it shuts down lucent Hive and stops Vex wyverns from doing their book jump, effectively turning them into fairly defenceless targets that your team can hose down.

Regarding ammo, if you ever run low, switching to your heavy or primary for a couple of kills and ammo should start dropping all over the place. Destiny 2 has a less extreme version of the Juggler modifier from D1 active in all PVE content, to try and force you to rotate through your weapons and not rely 100% on specials.

Yes, i's this week's NF. I'll give it a try later on, it'll be interesting to see what they've done. I wonder if you can still melt the boss....I suspect I shall die whilst trying to find out hehe

I'll give wavesplitter a try, I'm not generally a big fan of the trace rifle 'feel' but, I'll try anything once!

Managed to finally get on this week to do some pinnacle bits.

Quite like the new version of lake of shadows, escorting the pyramid thing isn't that bad at all. Don't think they've health-gated either of the bosses either (as long as you shoot the bits that pop up to stop your damage to them quickly) you can tear through them.

The first bit is fine and makes a nice change from just sparrowing through a patrol zone. The early mini-boss is a bit of a bullet sponge but, easy enough to deal with as long as you deal with the ads as they spawn. The tormenter is also easy to deal with as you can suspend, blind or freeze him.

Boss room can get away from you very quickly, mainly due to where you respawn on the ledge. If the floor is already lava, it's very easy to get stuck in a cycle where you die to the floor and ads before you have chance to shoot the nodes. I probably ran it about half a dozen times last week (on Master difficulty). Twice were legitimate, the rest were a bit cheesy - if they don't patch the cheese, I suspect that is how most GM completions will be done.

Funnily enough, when I suggested we just try to burn the boss with supers/heavies and a well, I was outvoted by my fireteam in favour of cheese hehe

This is why this game struggles

People talking in ridiculous language nobody but the people the game is now designed for understands.

And they wonder why people leave in droves at times.

Over 300k concurrent players on steam alone on Lightfall release.

I don't think the game is struggling.

Which bit of ridiculous language didn't you understand? I've read my post back a few times and, it all seems to be written in plain English but, I'm happy to help with any bits you're struggling with.

If you're referring to any references to 'cheese', that is a very well known phrase and has been used across multiple games over many, many years in gaming venacular.

The game player counts are as high as they've ever been, or higher, which will surely come as a disappointment to you.

You've established for us that you suck at Destiny, don't understand the game and don't want to make the slightest effort to learn, so why are you still here? You come across as a petulant child, angry that everyone else is having fun except you. hehe

I don't disagree with any of that.

Anyone jumped into GMs yet? I'm expecting strand to be very strong. Might have a bash at the Mars Battleground GM first, get it out of the way (if I can!)

I've been away on a business trip this week so I haven't been on since reset. I think that despite Strandnl indeed being very strong, some of the GMs will be brutal, Mars Battleground and Lake of Shadows (assuming no cheese is used) in particular I think will be savage.

I don't have the conqueror node but have lots of friends who do, I should probably finally get conqueror this season, normally by rhe time GMs roll around I've maxed out on pinnacles, crafted most of the things I want and got the god rolls on everything else so I traditionally play little Destiny in the latter half of a given season, so normally do a few GMs but never the whole set to get the seal.Maybe it's time to change that!

I'm actually flying home from Copenhagen as we speak, I'm going to get on my Warlock later and have a mess around with with Felwinter's Helm later, I saw an Aztecross video where he was saying it was pretty good when paired with the Void fragment thing that makes surrounding targets volatile when killing an enemy with a finisher.

I've got the Iron Banner SMG with repulsor brace on it, it's nice because you can wade into volatile enemies and just keep refilling your overshield as the enemies die around you, it should be even better if anything nearby keeps getting a -30% defence debuff.

The issue is some people just want to play a game, not talk about garbage like rolls, sponges, cheese, I have no idea what that means or even want to!

You see why that might mean people are not interested.

it is just a shooter that ran out of ideas, decided to charge people tons for old content, and muppets like you lot keep paying for it!

Awesome business plan, easiest money you ever made in your life! Fair play Bungo

I play for free and am quite happy doing what I do, not everyone needs or wants to be a freak,so bear that in mind eh!

None of those terms are exclusive to Destiny, if you play video games with your eyes open, you would know this. You are (thankfully) the exception, I've been playing Destiny since day 1 of the Alpha and have encountered literally hundreds of other players. None of them share your view.
Don't worry though, Easter holidays will be over soon thumbup

I ran Proving Grounds GM last night and honestly, it felt easy, I don't think I died even once. I was solar warlock and we had a strand hunter and a stasis hunter. Strand suspend was insanely strong, I strongly recommend at least one fireteam member on strand. I also used a glaive for unstop and damage reduction - turns out a glaive shield can tank half a dozen of the boss room's great balls of fire to the face....I literally took no damage!! biggrin

I love hero's burden. I have the repulsor brace roll and, more recently, the feeding frenzy, destabilising rounds roll. On balance, I think I prefer the latter roll but, both are incredibly strong with volatile rounds. There was a bug where the repulsor brace roll wasn't stunning overloads but I think that has something to do with volotile rounds stunning barriers. So, when they're active, the overload doesn't work or something. Hopefully a bug that was fixed.

I may try the Mars GM tonight or, Lake of shadows (cheese still works apparently but, I'd still like to try just nuking the boss). Gilding is going to be tough this season I think.

I actually agree with Luke, Destiny 1 taken king was when this game was at its best, since then it’s just been going downhill and more and more towards the hardcore fan base, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for them, however the games nowhere near as popular as it was with the majority

My mate who I class as the leader of said fanbase is always trying to get me back into, I literally have no idea of half the stuff that comes out his mouth about it anymore, I’ve learnt not to criticise the game because I can’t be bothered with the heated debate afterwards.

But surely catering to the hardcore fan base to this extent only means the game dies off at some point

I'd say its a just a symptom of how the entire industry has gone to be honest. Everything is getting more complex. I'd say that 90% of games have some sort of skill tree/ build-crafting element to them. It's just the norm now and personally think that Destiny more than likely would have been left behind had it not introduced that sort of system as it wouldn't have been complex enough to keep people thinking and engaged.

It not only allows you to tweak your setup to exactly how you want to play (sure, there are ways to play that are deemed "meta" and deal the most damage but i prefer playing a different kind of way) but also i think the game would've become very very stale a lot quicker if they'd stuck to "here is some armour and guns, go to x and shoot y repeatedly in the same way for years on end".

The build-crafting/ mod aspect has allowed people to largely play however they want, using whatever guns they want which obviously is another plus point as it has brought in so many guns that were previously thought of as rubbish (wavesplitter for example off the top of my head).

As I said in my previous post, i'd taken a long long lay off from Destiny, dipping back in every couple years or so to see what had changed. This is the longest i've been playing for since probably D1, and i'm genuinely loving it again. There are many people who are also really really enjoying the game either returning to the franchise or have been playing it all this time.

Things change, and some people aren't fans of those changes. And that's okay, there's nothing wrong with that - but to start insulting the people that do enjoy it just because you don't? That's just fking weird mate.

Destiny 1 Taken King was great I agree. The problem is that more and more, the game doesn't cater (as much anyway) to the casual player. Buildcrafting has been introduced and it all just seems too complicated and so they don't bother to engage with the systems in place. As a result, they run around with trashy builds and find all content difficult as a result.

I have a friend who didn't understand the mod system, always ignored his stats and he grew to dislike the game. I spent about 15 minutes with him putting a build together. It wasn't a meta build by any means, he just loves the arc Warlock so he threw on some getaway artist gauntlets and a demolitionist auto rifle (he also loved auto rifles!) and is now having a great time. It is his only build but, he now has 100 resilience and isn't getting destroyed by all incoming damage. As a result, he is happy with the game again.

It's really not that hard. The game has evolved so, you either evolve with it, or you find a simpler game

I can see your points however personally I think the game would be in a better state and have a much bigger player base had it not gone down the route it has done, but that’s just my thoughts and there’s plenty of other games around.

However I don’t see where I’ve insulated anyone?
