To be fair, then only time they matched Sony was the 360, cheaper and simpler than the PS3 it gave them a foothold.

The One was sunk before released thanks to the DRM plans that they quickly reversed due to the backlash and they've never been able to match the 360 success.

With improved internet pretty much everywhere the obvious thing is to move to a fully streaming/online device agnostic approach.

So exclusives to your service will be important again.
