The final test on the special license is the ultimate 'Ring challenge as there is a set car and no cheating allowed.

Post your times and we can find out who the fastest virtual pistonhead is.

Is this the fella where you're not allowed any off's?

If so, I think I did it once and got bronze, it took me long enough and is a challenge I vowed never to do again!!

Indeed. No wall riding or grass cutting is possible therefore making it the ultimate test of driving.

I posted this challenge because I'm a bit bored of the majority of the sub 5 min times in Evo which have blatantly involved cheating.

Thanks!

I unwisely learnt the 'Ring when I should have been studying for my exams!

That's certainly an impressive time. I had a few attempts last night:

Previous best (just to pass the exam) was 7.30.

Last night I did 7.16, and was 5 seconds ahead on the second lap when I binned it on the mini karusell

So its like that then is it?!

I was going to play a game of pro evo before getting some sleep for golf tomorrow morning (like sleep will help!) but now I feel the need to kick some ass on GT4.

(The pic quality is pish cos I took it on my phone and sent it to my e-mail address through mms)

I was roughly a second up on this time until the last few corners after the straight. Aargh!

Whipped my previous best through the twisties after the Karussel.

Edited to add:

You guys got steering wheels? I got a steering wheel with my PS2 for GT3 and its not very good so I just use the controller. How different do you find the wheel?

Wow, that really is very fast!

I've got the Logitech driving force pro. It is fantastic, but I've heard that it makes the game a bit harder! At least that's what I'm teling myself

Hangover looks on the cards tomorrow, I'll give it a go then

If you were a second up on that, then I suppose that a sub-7 seconds lap is feasible

I think so. Not sure if I'll try to though as I think it could drive me insane!

don't you find it frustrating that the Merc's gear ratio's aren't perfect (and you can't adjust them)?

6th is only used a few times, and it doesn't redline. All the way up the hill, before the Karusell the car doesn't make it into 6th...

Its the same in a lot of the license tests, I've been going back and trying to get gold. Some of them are very tough.

There is one test around the 'ring in a Merco Evo road car that is a bit annoying as the pace car keeps getting in the way and you fail if you overtake it!

hardly the ultimate test when TCS is on, is it?

the driving force pro wheel is well worth buying if you have somewhere to mount it. makes the game 1000% better!
