Time to upgrade my graphics card I think.
Anyone know if you can just take out the old one and replace it with a new one? Is it possible or do you have to do something to the motherboard first?
edit: just to say sorry for a highjack.

Geforce 4mx 420. It's AGP controlled (or something) as well. So all I have to do is find another (better) card with AGP compatability and job's a good 'un?

If your motherboard is an older AGP one then it may not be compatible with newer AGP cards. Most likely you won't have any trouble. Google your motherboard if you are unsure.
Any of these would probably do;

May I suggest one of these instead?

I'm not wanting to turn this into an ATI vs nVidia thread, but I have heard of people encountering difficulties when attempting to completely remove nVidia drivers when switching to ATI and vice versa.
It may therefore be better for you to stick with nVidia and select one of their more powerful cards. It's difficult to recommend a specific card without knowing the spec of the rest of your machine, but you wouldn't go far wrong with something from the GeForce 6xxx line. However, I would avoid the GeForce FX series entirely. Also, make sure you update the drivers to the most recent ones from the nVidia site, and not just use those on the CD which came with the card.

There is a freeware programme (whose name escapes me) that is specifically designed to remove traces of nVidia drivers left behind after uninstalling. Should be "findable" via Google.
