How about some game reviews/reccomendations?
Well done on finding yourself a console at the last minte mate

The reviews speak for themselves (gamespot.com / ign.com) The only thing that wasnt raved about as much as it could have been imho, was PGR3 Live - Live play has never been this much fun! Edited to add: although praps this is because ive never played xbox live before.

Its a laugh a minute with the english taking the piss out of the french drivers, taunting them monty python style. Its like pistonheads and your favourite driving game all in one

And the graphics in Kameo really are the best ever seen on any console. Im not into platformers, but got the game anyway and havnt looked back. Again, its much better and more fun than I thought it would be, and the reviews were all very positive/good to begin with.

Once again you've bothered to contribute to a thread to which you have nothing to add, apart from the fact you hate X-Box.

Whoopee-ing-doo.

xbox is bad, infact console gaming is bad, infact newage gaming blows. hey guys, let see how good we can make the graphics. thats ok, id rather play a good game with shitty graphics and not pay out of my ass for it.

why porn is greater than xbox -
1. better graphics, and isnt that what xbox is all about
2. cheaper, free even
3. a hell of a lot more fun.

verdict, blow me xbox.

Can one of you 360 owners tell me how it integrates with a home network? Can you play your music/photos from other computers through it? Does the interface look like Windows Media Edition? This side of things is what would maybe swing me over from Sony and I can't seem to find much info on it.

Thanks

Get a crosswired cable, and plug it into your network card. My PC had an ethernet plug on the motherboard. Fiddle around with network settings/wizzard and roberts your mothers brother.

I think you can play movies/photos/videos through it either via disk or network, but im not really into the new media of things

Sorry I wasn't clear before the connection is not a problem, I have a wireless network so would go that route as the PC is upstairs but I was wondering what the interface was like and the quality for streaming files. It would be great to use a 360 rather than shelling out for a Windows Media PC for the lounge.

Bit late in getting my 360 (despite ordering on 17th August from Game!!).

But hooked it up to my Sim2 projector on a 92" screen - fired up and switched to 1080i HD mode, popped PGR3 into the drive and...

WOW!

Well, I got mine a week and a day later than promised (11th Dec), so it's not quite as bad as I'd feared.

Thus-far, Perfect Dark = damn cool, much better single player than Live.

PGR3 - love the in-car view, especially when you crack your wing mirror and the view is all distorted - v.impressive. Bit disapointed with the car roster - it seems to lack any balance; much too easy to get superfast/expensive cars, kinda detracts fom single player.
Live is much better, and Live TV is quite cool as well.

Still got my original x-box for Forza: whilst Halo2 seems to work well on 360, Forza has some seriously dodgy frame-rate issues at time (plus, I'm up to L44 on my x-box, and as yet there's no way of transferring the profile/cars etc to 360)

I would have said the single player was the weakest area of Perfect Dark, The multiplayer is what keeps me coming back as it relies heavily on skill, more so than the likes of Halo 2. The singleplayer is very weak and not up there with recent shooters, and definitely not the original perfect dark.

Steve Evil - perhaps I'll give Perfect Dark another go on Live, see if it hooks me... I think Live is very dependant on the opposition, and when I was on PD (the first day I got the game, before I'd even tested single player) I was up aginst a gaggle of Yank kids whose language would've shamed even Chubby Brown...

You're not wrong there, I spent a great couple of hours on there yesterday with a good group of lads (mainly British but a few yanks) and there was only a bit of light banter when people were getting killed, it was the infection game mode where everyone works together to either survive the ever growing skeleton horde or to kill off the surviving human infidels, as soon as you've killed a human they get added to the skeleton ranks and half the time the comment was along the lines of 'alright, which one of you buggers got me then?'

Ive had PDZ from the day of release, but have only managed to find 30 mins of gaming time so far. Trying to finish Kameo first - the graphics are stunning in that game! And been playing PGR mostly (online - fantastic experience, although getting knocked is irritating. Especially when half the people are against knocking on purpose, and the other half intentionally knock you out the way)

Just tried the 360 down at gamestation - call of duty didnt impress as much as I thought it would, there isnt a world of difference between the 360 and a good high end PC in my opinion.

A high end PC is lightyears ahead of the 360 - PCs will always be ahead due to the frequency that the graphics hardware is updated. Asus have just released a limited edition card that is basically 2 cards stuck together, it would happily run games in twice the HD resolution of the Xbox at faster framerates and higher detail. Only downside is it costs over £600!

I've seen a few games running on in-store 360s and haven't been overly impressed with what I've seen.

Theres something more attractive about sitting on the couch though (Im a PC gamer at heart, dont get me wrong) but after 23 years of computer-gaming, and the significant advances of the 360, I do enjoy consoles that dont have the 'fuss' that PC gaming always brings.

The couch and 360 is a social affair. The 32" screen (coming friday ) and HD make a very big change up, from the PS2, and with photo realistic driving games like PGR3, even if one was better than the other, It will probably boil down to which has the best new games in the end.
