OK, have now recieved my Barbarian Invasion expansion game

However, can I load this onto my Rome game without the fear of me losing my saves in the camaign I'm currently playing?

Cheers

By the way what is everyone's favourite faction to play as in Rome Total war?

The Roman factions are OK, but rather spoiled by all the senate missions you have to perform.

I think my favourite so far is the Egyptians, they have a good mix of unit types.

If it's the Romans the Julii, just wipe out the Vatican when you get big enough if not the Spartan's or Carthaginians.

I might try as the Britons though, not done that yet.

Interesting, I will have to give it a try as the Spartans.

I thought you needed 50 provinces before you could march on Rome?

You seem a very keen Total War fan FourWheelDrift do you have any idea what period in hisory they plan to tackle next?

Whoops meant Brutii (Green faction). I have over 50 provinces, had more but I have lost one recently (large blue area in n.Africa and another in modern Turkey).

Not sure about the next period but I do remember the Battle of Hastings being played on Time Commanders, which isn't part of any current Total War game that I know of (unless it's part of the Viking add-on for Medieval).

American Civil war perhaps, English Civil war or the Peninsular War, taking on Napoleon maybe, could even inlcuded proper sea battles for the Nile and Trafalgar.

I think having proper sea battles is the logical next step.

We shall have to wait and see.

One thing I forgot to ask earlier which campaign do you lot enjoy playing more, the 15 province one or the 50 Province.

I prefer the more limited objective because it seems to me to be more historically accurate. I mean the Parthians probably wouldn't have dreamt of conquering the whole world. But conquering the Seleucid and Armenian empires is far more manageable.

Nooooooooooooooooooo

I just couldn't wait, could I!!! I just HAD to install Barbarian Invasion before finishing my Rome campaign, last night, after many, many hour over the past few weeks of playing, I was all set to march on Rome itself, after conquering most of Western Europe and the Northern African continent - I loaded up Rome, as usual, clicked 'Continue Campaign', as usual, but this time, the load bar filled, and then, back to the main menu!! !!
Nothing I do will bring my save back, I have lost my campaign saves (or at least, the ability to load them) due to me not being able to wait 'till I completed it to load Barbarian Invasion!
My whole campaign has effectively been ‘nuked’!

I play the 50 province one but if (IIRC) you save the game when you complete it, then reload the game you can carry on as I have done in the past

Didn't you read the bit on the install where it said 'Warning - Old Saved Games will not be playable after you install Barbarian Invasion' then If you still have the saved games I imagine you can copy them somehwere else on your hard drive, uninstall RTW and the expansion then reinstall Rome and continue.

Has anyone ever completed this game fully? I can conqueor all the provinces from the other factions, but there's always at least one per turn that revolts so I can't complete the game!

Favourite faction in the original was the Bruti Romans, mainly because of the 'Tustedo!' they shout I played as the Brits for a bit but I got a bit bored with so few untis to play with, hence I now play Total Realism.

Phew! I can still play where I left off! I downloaded a 1.6 patch, for both Rome and Barbarian Invasion, and it worked!

Yes! I completed it the other night! My wife was so pleased!!
I left Ireland 'till last, and once that settlement was conquered, that was it! I had a 'VICTORY' screen, with fanfare shots of my victorious army and general marching through Rome!

Am now playing as the Bruti family (finished game with Julii, trouble is, I keep thining the red icons are mine still!!)

I noticed that the next ‘Total-War’ game to be released is Medieval 2!!!!
