360 ethernet help!
Discussion
Got my 360 today but i have discovered that i don't have ethernet on my pc.
It's quite old, a pentium 2 i thinkrunning on win se. I do have broadband with bt and a little red modem that looks like a frog.
Anyway i just went out and bought a belkin USB 10/100 ethernet connecter as ther is no ethernet connecter on the pc.
If i install the software will it mess up all my internet settings? also i imagine i plug the modem into it so where does the 10metre ethernet cable go?
Sorry to be so stupid, i realy must get a new pc one day but this works fine for the internet.
Thanks

Well all i can say is that i have found this xbox a thoroughly depressing experience.
PGR£ seems mediocre in comparison to Forza and the hype it attained. I can't get online because i am a technophobe and my pc is durasic with no ethernet connection. AND i bought kong for an extra £20 in the deal. KING KONG is, for THE generation consol ; a coplete and utter pile of sh1t.
I have got bored with pgr3 already as you get the fast cars straight off and i have managed to get myself realy angry in the process of playing it.
Time for bed and sleep off a disastrous day i think.

Well it is always hard for the software companies to develop launch games for a next gen console . PGR4 will be unreal as Bizarre will have had an extra few years to really make use of the 360's internals. When I got my 360 on launch day I setup everything up played PGR3 and I was impressed but I also thought it had been over hyped.
However after playing it for a few hours I really started getting into it and now nearly two months later playing people from here on live and doing the race against the clock with others from here is great fun.
I really do hope that when they create the first download package that it contains a couple of slower cars. Mini cooper s, focus rs etc as racing in a mini in PGR2 was such a laugh.

I got my 360 yesterday also and was up till midnight playing it. Its an amazing leap from the old PS1 that I had a decade ago.
My XBox is in the living room where it is hooked up to the LCD, but my ethernet (B/Band) connection is in spare b/room. I don't want to start tacking a cable from one roon to another, so I guess the only alternative is a wireless connection.
Never done this before but I assume I need a wireless router. PCWorld?
Does the router need to be in the line of sight of the XBox?? Or does the signal go through walls, etc?
Thanks.

Wireless shoots through walls so no line of sight connection required, I would recommend the netgear stuff have set up a couple and they have both been very reliable PC world did have good offers on Netgear might still be on or try ebuyer.com.
Either ethernet bridge of microsofts own wireless adaptor will work. (would go for 108mps std kit if you can)

Game have told me that my pc with it's win se probably won't work with xbox live anyway so i just phoned bt and they are sending me a voyager205 router.
What are you guys using to connect to your pc monitor?
I have a PR VIEW 17" TFT and a logitech speaker system with a big woofer so i may just use the xbox in the bedroom here with my pc. I could watch dvds on it as well then because my pc doesn't have a dvd player
