When's PS3 out?
Discussion
What's that got to do with anything, all I was saying is that the 360 uses twice as much of this scarce memory as the PS3
I understand that the PS3 will also use 256Mb RAMBUS XDR in addition to the GDDR3.
Also that $17Mil. figure for a dev kit is complete Bt, figures I've heard from developers are nearer £20K each, so even if you had 5 that would still only be £100K.
Maybe it's $17Mil to develop a how title?

If the PS3 dates are anything like the GT4 dates, then expect 18 month delays.
M$ will already be working on the new XBox already, and have XBox 360's available over 2 christmases the way it's going before the PS3 hits the shelves.
PS3 might be good, but the XBox360 is good now... that must be hurting Sony's long term outlook for the product. I certainly won't be rushing for an out-dated expensive console in 12 months time, I'll get an Xbox360 with hundreds of titles, working tested online capability and for half the price!

I think Mr Yogi should learn to listen to those in the know.. .. .. ..
Ill not bother posting if your not going to listen, see link below, yes I am under NDA so I can only give certain info on public forums, but please, I wont talk bull***t to you, just the facts I know I will not get in trouble for.
I quote US $17.6 million, so yes I made a little mistake, read it for yourself dude.
www.theinquirer.net/?article=26945
also square enix has walked from playstation only due to the apparent costs of development,
www.theinquirer.net/?article=25144
if you read my post propper you would see I said develope, as in make a game for the PS3 and not just buy a dev kit to make one, of course you get one of those for the initial 17.6 mill.
have fun and in future find out who you are talking to before trying to challenge

Same speed as the XBox 360 isn't it? 700Mhz GDDR3?
PS3 only uses 256Mb of GDDR3 and XBox 360 uses 512Mb of it.

wrong again dude, I think you better check your facts before posting on this subject as you are loosing credibility, and fast.
the PS3 will use the new Rambus XDR Memory and not the GDDR3 you stated, I stated GDDR3 for my own reasons
I quote the faithful inq once again.

Actually keep posting, Its fun proving you are wrong over and over and over and ..... you get the picture.
Well if you get you info from the Inquirer
The currently released specs for the PS3 state 256Mb of XDR connected to Cell and 256Mb of GDDR3 connected to the RSX. While there is some speculation that the apparent delay in RSX is because nVidia are working out problems in an XDR interface for RSX. Thus replace the GDDR3 supposedly connected to the RSX with XDR, which would be nice for bandwidth as the existing conenction is only 128 bits wide.
Sorry if I misread your comment about PS3 dev costs, however if the hardware is such as small preportion of the dev costs I really don't see why the PS3 should cost soo much more than any competing platform. I have read that royalty payments are broadly similar and the PS3 ia apparently much easier to develop for than the PS2, so why all the extra cost?
BTW the inquirer is one of the least reliable sites on the net, they tend to take rumours from chat forums and turn them into news and they have very little technical understanding of what they are reporting regarding consoles and graphics technologies, especially Fraud(?).

Whilst I am not a big fan of buying consoles and prefer to get the PC version, I may well get a PS3 to avoid that wait for one of its main launch titles, Grand Theft Auto 4.
isn't it grand theft auto 6 that should be released? gta3, vice city, then san andreas, so the next one would be 6 would it not?
