Can you not run a higher refresh rate than 60hz? It won't effect FPS or anything but low refresh rates like that can cause eyestrain. I try to have at least 75hz, I run mine at 1280x1024 on a 19" Phillips 109 E5 monitor and with that res and hz it fills the screen out nicely. If you start changing the hz rate you may find your screen shape changing so you may need to alter your screen resolution (now you've more FPS you might want to anyway).

if you have a CRT monitor then definately get it off 60hz and have it on no less than 70 to avoid eyestrain.

If you have a tft then this is irrelevant. I run mine at 61hz for optimal performance

PV and myself have just had a good race round Bathurs in the Mini's should be good for a Friday Night!

I've joined anohter league, Alfacup.
In it last week but fecked it up for some reason, and I hate the short nurburgring. It's 35 laps of Dijon in the Alfa for me starting Qualy at 6pm UK time today
Nice one! More practice..

I'm runing a 19" TFT (lcd?) so I guess this makes no difference

Just been having a go round Bathurst with Uncledave in the minis, very funny even with just two minis and a couple of other escorts, amazingly flickable down the hill was getting 120 fps and one point

I just tried the letterbox mode - I really like it - I think it makes GTL seem a lot more classy.

Anybody up for a race at the ring this week?

Yes, shall we have a ring race on Wednesday? 8pm start straight to race for 3 laps?

Dave.

And what is this letterbox all about? All it seems to do for me is cut down to widescreen, so I can see even less of the track, and get distracted by the black nothingness at the top and bottom of the screen?

i think its intended for a cinematic feel on wideescreen monitors... i own a widescreen TFT and to be honest i think it looks shit !! The frames per second were identical.

Certain views provide a FPS's increase due to less detail having to be refreshed. You might want to experiment with that ?

The Letter box cuts out some of the Sky (I don't watch the sky when I'm driving) and part of the cockpit (I don't use the cockpit dials, I have the steering wheel off) I use the extra big HUD dials and they are on top of the bottom black section.

Plus it feels more like looking out from a crash helmet for that realistic look

Anybody up for a practice run tonight? I haven't had much (any) practice at the ring yet. There are a few public servers that run it.

As someone suggested, I think dignity crushing photos could be posted up here in return for small donations towards the 'Buy UncleDave a 200i /280i' fund..

Similar to www.buymeaferrari.co.uk

£600 odd+ should do me fine
