Is the GeForce 6200 any good?

Ok I know it's not as fast as the 6800GT etc, etc....but will it run Counter strike: Source as well as my Ti4200 with 128MB used to?

I managed to shag it up with a drop of static goodness while changing the heatsink for a passive one so I don't want to spend a lot of money on a card however if the 6200 will suffice, I'm happy to go for that.

Cheers all!

I would be sceptical of it being much faster than a 4200 Ti.

Although the GeForce 4 is old, not very optimised by current standards and only has directX 8 pixel and vertex shaders, it is a robust chip. 4 dual pixel piplelines running at 250MHz(?) with similar speed RAM(?)over a 128Bit bus.

Whereas the GeForce 6 6200 has 2 or 4 pixel pipelines (can't remember) although running faster (400MHz?) with RAM connected over a 64bit? (maybe 128bit?, maybe depends on verison?) bus. So the speed may not be much faster, While is does have DirectX 9 level shaders It has so few units it barley has the power to process directX 9 level sharder code. Overall I suppose it should be a bit faster but not by much, but if you were happy with the performance of the 4200 and just need a replacement (did it die?) then the 6200 is probably a good buy if the price is right.

Take a look at some of the computer hardware sites which benchmark these things. I don't know how much the 6200 goes for but a 6600GT or X800GT is a much better prospect for about £100.

4200Ti in UT2004
6200 in UT2004

4200Ti in Doom3
6200 in Doom3

4200Ti in FarCry
6200 in FarCry

Note that the test systems aren't the same (Pentium IV/ A-64 4000+) but both should be fast enough not to effect the video card scores

Edited because I posted a bunch of crap basically.. How much are you looking to spend? As you can probably pick up a pretty decent card second-hand or even new these days if you look in the right places, the 6600gt is a pretty good card which has dropped a lot in price recently and would easily run CS:Source.
