Good for a laugh, so good in fact i'm thinking of letting someone else get all the pleasure from mine, in return for a few pennies of course

No, i hate them, the only good game ive seen is GTA - most games look like PS1 games rather than PS2, totally overhypered capabilities, fairly expensive and most the games are s**t in both playability and presentation terms. I do work with them though, so im probably sick of the sight of them.

Depends what you want them for.

As a main games machine - nope
As a main Video/DVD/Multimedia player - probably other out there that do the job better
As an MP3 Player - get an iPod
As a combination of the above - can't think of anything that comes close.

Yes its comprimised in all those area's, but if you are looking for an all rounder then its worth a look. I use mine when I travel and flick between using it for games, movies and sometimes music and have not been disappointed.

Games, proper tinternet, music, video, portable - nothing else can match it.

As said, other devices can beat it in individual areas but none in them all. It's small enough to replace your ipod (4 and 8gb sticks coming out soon) and its got infinite amounts of homebrew that you can do almost anything with. Eg using it as a remote for itunes. I play mine more than my PS2, just waiting on the PS3 though

I bought one to play on the train to work and back - worth it for that but the games aren't great. When you get a good one it passes the train time for a week or so.

Not sure if this is the one i've got.... there's a few about.

If you've got an airtunes station linked to your stereo setup then you can control your stereo with it

I've had one for some time now for the commute into london. Its brilliant

I can watch my ripped dvd's (scarface on at the mo), i listen to some tunes, then have a spot of need for speed most wanted... and then when i get to work i download files off the net like game patches and drop them on the psp and take them home !

When the PS3 comes out it will serve as a wireless controller and may even utilise the psp screen as a secondary display on some games. You'll probably be able to turn up at a mates and use your controller with all your game settings onboard so there is no arguments over not having the right settings etc etc...

Plus the battery life is tremendous.

What more can you ask for !!

Gran Turismo Mobile is slated for release some time this spring (we hope), so if you like the idea of portable laps of the 'ring then it might be for you.

Big for Tiger Woods Golf too!

Agree with the comments above: it is fantastic for travelling and a great way of passing the time in airports,

Tiger Woods is superb. I havent done anything else with the PSP since I bought it. I think that the people on the plane/train around me aren't as enthralled about it though - especially when I am tapping the buttons repeatedly for a power boost and spin!

Gran Turismo will be a good one to watch for. I also hear that they are looking to release Lemmings for it which could be a laugh.

I think that as a first attempt at portable gaming for Sony, the PSP is excellent. I can't wait to see what PSP2 will look/perform like and it is only early days in terms of game development - so things can only get better and better.

coming soon...

www.outrun2006.com

PSP version runs at a solid 30 FPS, has a 6 player Online & LAN network game,
live! style functionality with online scoreboards, downloadable ghost cars,
friend invites to sessions, etc.

Oh and it has a single player game as well, but I'm biased as I did all the
networking for it

It's a good little device, if you do a lot of commuting it would be worth getting one. I don't use mine an awful lot, mainly when I get the train home after a night out *hic* where I can watch a film (currently have a couple of episodes of Lost series 2 on there) or play Star Wars BF2. If you have a wireless network you can use it for web browsing.

The games aren't that great, I got bored of GTA after about a week, it's just not suited to a mobile device. The loading times can also be a pain. Tomb Raider is coming out soon though, hopefully that will be good.

PS. Don't know why people are comparing it to a PS2, that's just not a fair comparison at all.
