I need to clearout my tracks folder. Ive got too many, i dont know what i have and havnt got. It also doesnt help having more than one version of lots of tracks. e.g. i had Donington, but the motorfx one, not TL. And i had both brands packages. Ive deleted the ones i dont need for the league but im going to clearout some more i think. I also got rid of all the Aussie V8 tracks cause im never going to use them again (except sandown and bathurst). In the future what i'll do is delete tracks after ive used them if im not going to use them again.

I must be doing something wrong here. Downloaded all the tracks. Used Winrar to extract to the "locations" folder? That right?
The tracks are all displayed as seperate folders etc, liek orignal tracks... but when i fire r factor up, and try the lambo on the tracks, it makes a noise and goes unresponsive, i press ESC and it closes the game?? Any ideas?
Even just tried the original northamptonshire, in the gallardo... and this came up.

Sorry, on pda here so difficult to tell you exactly what you need to do, but if you get MAS errors it means the track has not been installed properly. Some tracks UNRAR with an extra folder level at the top (totally stupid and poor packing) check this. A MAS error occurs because it looking for a file in a folder but can't find it beacuse of the extended folder structure.

Ok uninstalled everything... start again. So i should just end up with a folder under "locations" with for example.. "donnington" and the various files inside that folder?

For Brands 2005 for example the two GP & Indy folder and the MAS files, TDF read me etc.... should end up in a folder called rFactor\GameData\Locations\Brands_2005

Some tracks uninstall to a folder (for example) like this.

BobsFolder/NewTrack/rFactor/Locations/BobsTrack. And you end up with a messed up folder structure if you unpack all that to the Locations folder in rFactor.

Best thing to do is unpack the RAR to your desktop and click through the folders until you get to the locations folder, then click that, copy the folder inside and paste it into the locations folder in rFactor.

Make sure you copy what's "inside" the locations folder, not the locations folder itse;f or you will get a locations folder inside your locations folder....silly

Once you do it once or twice you know what to do and it's a doddle.

Unfortunately as I typed above some track and mod developers don't pack their mods properly and don't give install instructions.

Crystal and Goodwood should stay in the GPLEAtracks folder that's part of the unpacked files.

so rFactor\GameData\Locations\GPLEAtracks

Aintree should be in rFactor\GameData\Locations\Aintree

Inside GPLEAtracks will be a Crystal folder that contains another folder called Crystal, 2 MAS files, the TDF & readme, the same with the Goodwood folder.

Just had a quick go myself and 1:49.8 was my best so your times looks pretty good, but I've not played since the end of the last season we had.

Just wondering though, as you've just installed the game, are you playing with the driving aids on or did you switch them off?

Upload speed is the issue with hosting. Forget what download speeds you get. I think I get between 300-450k upload speeds, which might be ok with less than 10 people online.
I just tested mine at http://www.speedtest.net/ so thats me out for hosting i think, virgin clearly doesn't see the importance upload speed, ever heard of youtube? ffs rolleyes

Server hosting backup plan. Best upload speed wins the prize to host.
