OK will have a look at dark rising. Looks a fairly slick operation. Are you enjoying it?
Yup awesome bunch of folks. Mainly UK with a few Europeans and a couple of US folks. Very regular activity, Mitch is a great CEO and has been playing Eve forever so has a lot of contacts and experience. He, and the Corp, are what I call "Good Guys" generally decent folks, not major assholes but also not above ganking the odd Ice miner now and again at the end of a roam.

If things get stale then we'll move on to keep the game interesting and exciting, so if you're a 1 system kind of guy then we won't be for you. Regular activity is rewarded with monthly PVP prizes and other fun stuff and corp involvement is rewarded with bigger and better opportunities. Almost exclusively a PVP corp although we're running a bit of PI at the moment which also generates content as we take and defend POCOs. We have sister logistic corps for your courier alts if needed and have a decent shopping system in place for buying and ferrying stuff over from Jita etc

Tell them Jared Reidel sent you over. Remind me your toon name so I can look out for your application if you decide to pop one in

Cheers

JR

Edit: Oh and join channel "Dark-Rising" in game so the folks there can say Hi and answer any questions you have.

A friend encouraged me to start playing EVE with him. So last night it began:

5 hours later, "Holy crap... I haven't died yet!" this statement makes way much more sense if you witnessed my first solo attempt to play EVE.

We did some Agent missions (is that a new thing?), I did some mining and ran away from a lot of pirates after witnessing the awesome power of their rockets. Found a wrecked fleet and salvaged what we could (DED Officer Tokens, what are these for?)

Got a 125mm Gauss canon but can't find ammo to use it. Stashed my mining laser at A station... I now have no idea which, that Item storage is not a account wide bank. I know this now :s

So... Miso Honourey, the female Asian looking Amarr is now lost in space only slightly less confused than when I started.

There is a sort of safe like icon about halfway down.

That's all your global (galaxy?) assets.

If you right click on the stations listed there you can select it as a destination.

Add me to your contact list in game and I'm happy to talk you through some bits if you need.

Gauss cannon is a railgun and uses hybrid ammo, antimatter for example

You can have as many assets as you want, no limit, the big challenge is what you can keep in a ship, but station storage is unlimted in all stations. To find your mining laser go to assets, its half way down the neocom (the button bar on the left of the screen) and looks like an A inside a cube iirc.

Alt-T for your Assets, I think Titanium Sabot S is the best round you can get for the 125mm cannons?

Finally got my PH alt out to OKI staging zone, but I've not been playing him as much since I started mining with Arthur Dentz.

Got in touch with the chap on the EVE forums whose referral I used for the extended trial, he's after donating 700,000,000isk and a Stabber, which should get me a Skill Injector to catch up on my skill queue, which is about 30 or 40 days long at this stage.

I'm still mostly ratting and mining, I started salvaging too, which is more lucrative than I expected. Brought my Thrasher and Venture to Jita, prices seem to be about 10% better than Dixie or Rens. I'm skilling up drones, mining and shields, and got a deal on a Procurer that I'm looking forward to taking out.

It took me a while to realise that the lowsec ores like Jaspet take up more space than Scordite, so per 5000m3 load, there's more to be made with Massive Scordite than Pristine Jaspet.

eve-central.com is great for checking prices, and o.smium.org/ for ship fittings and item stat comparison.

Thank you both for this tip! Used it last night and it's just blown my mind.

Started moving ore, rather than just mining it, so I kitted out a Procurer with a few fast rigs and inertial stabilizers, and started jumping around.

A little research during the long flights lead me to these tools and guides:

Best ISK /Hour guide, handy as it quotes prices per m3, rather than units, so you can figure out what your ore hold haul would be worth.

https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ore/?region=10000032

I also like this, one of a suite of solutions from Eve Market Data:
Deal Finder: pick a location, then see what the gap it between it and Jita 4- 4 prices. It runs off EveMon data, which is limited, but it's a good indicator of what's hot.

http://eve-marketdata.com/deal_finder.php

I usually use the eve-central price guide to get up to date information, and to confirm the deals suggested by the Deal Finder. It's also handy for checking for gaps between Sell & Buy orders.

It's gone a bit quiet in here so I thought I would bump it.

If any of you lot are looking for a new corp, I can heartily recommend Dark-Rising. Really good bunch of guys, good activity and plenty of Pew Pew.

Dark is in the process of building one.

A bunch of us were on the test server to have a play with them and blow them up.

I dont see it as being massively different to stations. But I suspect there will be layers of Corp only activity around it.

I, along with most other former players, watched the trailer and thought that looks ace. Then we remember the mindless hours of work that goes into 10 seconds of 'point' 'local spiking' 'get out get out its a trap' 'anyone still alive?'

Play in low-sec then, much more fluid and smaller scale / faster PVP. I can never get the #effort that goes into Nullsec PVP.

As mentioned above, Dark-Rising are still recruiting, with plenty of action and varied fleets throughout the week

They're anchoring a Citadel 3 jumps from Jita (Otela, I think?) it takes about a day, judging from the timer.

This. Totally this.

In about a month with Dark in Low sec I have had more fights and more kills than in 3 with Wingspan in null and WH. Loads of roams, small frigate fleets, solo time, blops if that floats your boat and the odd large fleet.

Its much better than the hours of, slightly too serious, planning that goes into even small scale actions in null.

My mate is muttering about starting eve again. I just cant, its too much involvement for the little spare time i have, he is a stay at home dada, who is really good with his little girl, but i just cant justify the time anymore, especially as i am so far behind the curve i may as well start a fresh, and the 'spreadsheets in space' thing has more than a ring of truth to it, a shame, as i love the game design and setting.

I haven't looked at an EVE spreadsheet in years, its really not the game anymore, if it ever was. If you don't want to have a cluttered UI you don't need one.

I'm not particularly interested in transversal etc, because its not that helpful for me.

If you are thinking about fits for ships, a bit of googling will turn up dozens that you can tailor to your needs.

The only thing that's even vaguely spreadsheet related is the market place. and even then its just an easy way to arrange things.
