Im almost embarrassed to say that I enjoy "Assault" mode.

I go into it knowing it could be a world of hurt, but I quite enjoy being the underdog. Its quite satisfying when it goes well.

At the end of the day its a free to play game with people cocking around in virtual "fantasy" tanks. Certainly not worth getting hot under the collar.

I want a WWII armoured warfare simulation getmecoat
Assault is unfortunately a mode where the shortcomings(does it have anything else?) of the rng are highlighted. With one side at a disadvantage in almost all maps, if they get a poor rng, they're screwed.

I'd make one slight distinction to your comment above - At the end of the day, even if it is free to play, it isn't free to all, and it may not remain free to play. If it was pay to play, I certainly wouldn't with the current issues.

Not sure I want to comment on the validity or variance of the RNG. I need to find some replays that show clear BS shots regulary being made. Whether there is a conspiracy to get player to go premium , who knows ?

If this game was Pay2Play I might have just purchased 1 tank and leave it at that.

To be honest the game is getting far too repetitive. The mixture of maps and scenarios is just too low. The games become at most a 15 minute slugfest. Its nice when things go well but its getting boring.

The game needs bigger maps or teams and something that lasts longer than 15 minutes. There is no "persistent" strategic world. The Armed Assault OFP developers managed an OK artificial AI for their vehicles. Its all we would need to create new types of missions and game modes etc but I feel WOT is about the tactical quickie mission.

Turn up, shoot, survive/die ... get EXP. Wash rinse repeat.

Its not a bad game but I think there are flaws in the model.

I don't want to believe that there is a conspiracy to make premium the only viable option.
Nor do I think that currently this is the case...I just wish I did know what was going on, or the rationale - there clearly is something odd happening, and in my opinion it isn't a good thing.

If it was pay to play, and done via tank models, I'd have bought one. Maybe 2 if I was in a good mood at some point after the first purchase. If it was a monthly subscription...They'd have one month from me after the changes made from the beta, and that would be about it.

I'm fine with the 15 minute missions - the drop in, have a quick game, then wander off have a smoke, do something else, come back style fits well for me; sitting at the pc for a couple of hours at a time is too much like work.

They did propose a game type where you picked 5 tanks from your garage, and got to spawn in them one at a time as your lives...this could appeal.

For what it's worth, I can confirm that my bounce rate when hitting targets is more or less the same whether using gold shells or not - nothing worse than to have 6 'That one bounced' or 'penetration' (but no hp or modules damage) gold shell shots in a row - on a tank TWO TIERS below yours.

The next game, you'll find you'll kill the exact same tank (aiming at the exact same areas)with 4 shots!

ETA - It seems that, if the game decides it's your time to lose, no amount of gold will help circumnavigate it... hehe

It would be nice to have the choice. A persistent map where you jump in (not literally you ELC AMX driverswobble) and play a more strategic game would be great.

It's not limited to the ELC drivers, I jumped of a bridge in the 3001P on to a building that broke my fall, in order to shoot an M5 in the arse.

I did a bit worse than usual, as I was laughing too hard to concentrate.

A persistent world would be nice...but I'd rather they sort everything else first.

If there are any players here who are still not in a clan but fancy having a go, British Marauders still have spaces. Basically we have two battalions, BM1 and BM2. BM2 is for anyone who wishes to take part in clan wars on a regular basis, and they do require that you have at least one tier x tank and know how to play it, and be prepared to take part in training battles.

If that sounds like too much commitment, BM1 is more social. They still play the odd clan war game, but there is no expectation that if you are online you have to take part. BM1 is more about playing random games in Platoons and a bit of good natured banter with any other clan members who happen to be online. There is also, of course, the option to move to BM2 at a later date should you wish

If you fancy applying to either, just look up British Marauders in the clan section of the WoT website.

But it was first battle of the day so nowt special tbh.

Agree that zapping level 2s with a tier 1 ups the ante, will have to get a snip of an MS-1 result. My top score on MS-1 is 1050xp, but then it's elited, 100% crew, and two thirds on the way to their second skill. NOT premium account, obviously.
Thats not bad in the MS-1, not bad at all. I just looked up mine and its 780, some way behind, Traktor is 1171. I know though I've had a lot in the 700's with the MS-1. Memorably, in the recent 5x first game win enticer they did recently. I ended up with something in the region of 3800 xp, after a corking first win. Still , it makes up for the all too frequent times when your first win coincides with a crap personal performance. Five times buggar all, is still buggar all! moan

BM moved their website recently while I was on my honeymoon and don't appear to have sent any details out about it! Where is it now?

I think they were having problems with their previous hosts, so had to set up a new site. I think it is still a work in progress at the moment, but you can find it here.

For anyone who thinks that a premium account reduces the chance of bouncing or non-damaging shots, think again. I have just had a game in a M5 Stuart and was shooting at a PzIII/IV before I got taken out by something completely different. Of the 23 shots I had at the Pz before getting taken out, 1 missed and of the remaining 22 that hit, only one pentrated and did any damage, for a paltry 45 hp. Very frustrating, I didn't even get Sniper!

I see they have also introduced a new award; Pascucci's Medal. Awarded for destroying 3 or more SPGs with a tank or TD.

I'm pretty shocked at how low the XP rewards can go - yesterday a couple of enemy arty got 3 XP each (was so surprised I took a screenshot). Yes THREE experience! And just now I came fourth on our (losing) team with 127! Though I did get the only kill before getting myself ammo-racked.

Upgraded KV 3 to KV 4 and even stock it can take a hell of a lot of damage. Not overly dynamic stock though so tracks and engine should make it better.

E75 got the top turret today and another one that can take some hits. Trouble is when top tank and half the team die quickly it is hard to carry. When top it probably needs to be in the thick of the action.

A cople of days in with the GwTiger and it is the best arty I have played. Damage dealing it is amazing and even had a tier 9 bounce hits of the side.

Always nice to get new tanks that are a step p - next will be the Jagdtiger.......

Killed early on by scouts. I've received 4xp in the M43 for this.

Just had a Homer moment.

Finally acquired enough xp in the M18 Hellcat to research the next vehicle, the T25/2. Sold the M18 and, with 4.3m credits in the bank, went shopping for a new vehicle. Acquired said vehicle, upgraded all the modules that had been researched thanks to other vehicles, and only then did I realise that I had bought a T25 AT, not the T25/2.

Doh!

Unless you've bought and elited the T25 before, I wouldn't worry about it. In many ways (105mm, mainly), I prefer the T25 to the T25/2.

That's the annoying thing, it was elite. It's just that it was so long ago I don't remember playing it. Needless to say I sold it and bought the vehicle I had intended to buy in the first place, but it cost me a load of credits.

Just had a game where we lost 7-14, and the 7 kills our team managed to acquire were all mine. My xp for that game was 584. The next best player in the team managed 56! God alone knows what they were all doing.
