Just so you know, there are actual race drivers (ie those in the "real world") who became racing drivers because of this game. Yep good idea. 20 years ago I might be prepared to sit down and grind out GT in order to get cars, tracks and challenges etc. But with a wife, family, full time career and quite frankly no longer the enthusiasm for it never mind the time to spend much more than 20-30 minutes a week on a game I'd pay for that.I'd like it if there was a GT5:Unlimited version that you could buy, with all cars, tracks and special doo-dahs unlocked already. I used to have the time to work through the games and win all these things, but these days all i want to do is fire it up, have a couple of races and then leave it.

Given this is a motoring forum, surely there should have been some mention about the efficacy of the physics modelling for the cars. Does it do lift off oversteer, can you adjust the yaw of the car on the throttle, how much does set-up effect the car, etc, etc?

In fact I would rather have a wheel and pedals over a HDTV and surround sound for GT5.

lol, my RX-7 came with that Apexi exhaust, and while it did make a fair amount of noise and look quite silly, RX-7s benefit massively from a larger exhaust with less back pressure, and was responsible for a good 15bhp increase...
It's playable on pad but you won't see what all the fuss is about until you get a decent wheel and pedals (Logitech's GT wheel for instance). Living room nightmare in terms of cables and equipment but I've heard good things about the wheelstandpro so I'm going to give this a go (another £90 investment) to keep the ladywife appeased. Best to stand up the costs against a track day to put it in perspective...

Would definitely recommend surround sound after the wheel (the Driving Force GT being good for cheap(er than the G26)), in the cockpit/bumper cam you get the induction noise from the front speakers, exhaust from the rear speakers and lots of bass... Oh and a job somewhere where they don't mind if you disappear for extended periods of time.
As for the 'kiddy' comments; someone is showing their age!
For the parts that involve you racing I would say a very big yes. Graphics are good (ignoring shadows), physics engine is far improved and the AI is better than previous efforts but is still lacking in places. Plus all the new cars 
For the B Spec part, a very very big no. Why expand that section that much when surely a few more proper series can be included, I really have no interest in sitting and watch b spec bob fk up at every opportunity when in the fastest car in the field.
