Just seen this thread as well!

Do you have the third picture in 1280 x 1024?

Do you use a Canon EOS 50 by any chance?

Drop me a mail, and I'll try to send a copy out to you - won't be for a few days though, as I'm not around much at the moment!

I use a Canon EOS 30, with Velvia film.

Just had a quick play with USM, and found that settings of 100/2/0 seemed to work quite well, so I've updated the pics.

Crikey! that is a lot of sharpening, I assume that the original files are quite large in size (over 4000px wide?) The pictures look good now, but a good rule for sharpening is that you should only do it at the size that the picture will be used at. This is because the process of re-sizing will lessen the effect of the sharpening that you have done, but often it's not very noticable.

Yep, the originals are about 110MB in size (scanned at 4000dpi), and I do remember now that sharpening should be done on the final image!

I've not got round to reading the chapter on sharpening in my PS book yet, so will need to read up on that next I think!

110MB? Geez Louise! That's massive!
