Great shot. It reminded me I had a sequence of Mr Button's effort to sort out.
Nice. I don't think Button worked out the front brake bias trick.
Mine's only a 10D with the cheap 28-135IS. Odd thing is I've got other much more expensive lenses but I get all the good shots with the 28-135.
Cheers

I find my favourite shots come from my cheapest lens - a second hand 50mm f/1.8 that I got on eBay for £60 including shipping from the US. Funny that, maybe it's what you are comfortable with.

No, Button's burnouts/donuts were not the best of the day.
No need to excuse the 28-135, it's a great lens! I sold mine recently when I got a 28-70L, regret it now as it was very handy as a general lens.

CVP, When I first saw your pictures I thought the subject was excellent but was the concerned as to the safety behind them. I guessed you must have chosen a quiet bit of road and driven very slowly and just made it look quicker. However, you did better than that!
Don't worry I took plenty of care in making sure it was fg tightly clamped I simply could not bear the thought of the D100 and lens coming off and smashing, never mind what could happen to the car or any other cars on the road
Fortunately as well this road is very quiet. My technique was to wait in parking space until I'm sure the road in my direction of travel is clear then go and take my chance. I think it took a good 5-6 trips on this short bit to get the shots. I've added the MBD100 remote battery pack so I get an electronic release terminal. Then I run the electronic release down into the car and onto my lap. Then see the road is clear and one hand comes off the wheel hits the remote release and goes back on the wheel. Time off the wheel only 1-2 seconds.

What clamp are you using?
It's from B Hague & Co.
www.b-hague.co.uk/Mounting%20Brackets.htm For these I used the supeclamp from the camcorder fitting kit. I've tried the suction mount but can't get it stable enough to get a good picture on the car (yet...)
The superclamp jaws do go fairly wide so it can grip most things, definitely recommended and also B Hague & Co were very good when I dealt with them.
That's a brave man taking his bear up the strip - he's either got big cahones or really needs the bear as a comforter ;D Something says if he drives a nitrous'd Cebera it's proably big cahones !
Thanks for the kind comments about the night shot, each time I look at it I can remember the feeling as that tiny steering wheel communicates the road to my hands (and the sweaty palms at the woeful power of the lights )

Thnaks CVP, which clamp exaclty? was it the whole camcorder kit (£98)?
Thats a good source to remember.
It's the whole kit. I thought in for a penny in for £98
The kit is good, it's all made by Manfrotto, so should last a lifetime.
The kit is;
1 - Superclamp
2 - Base to attach camera to
3 - extension arm (more handy than you think)
4 - two arms joined by two ball joints that clamp (a really, really useful piece of kit)
5 - suction clamp
All of it fits together and tightens up with screws so you can get it good and firm.
For my two Elise shots I used;
1 - superclamp
2 - twin arm rotating thingy
3 - camera base section
I have used the extension arm when using the clamp on a yacht and it still keeps everything nice and tight.

Are yes, the good old L game. I've stopped myself now after getting a 100-400L IS and thinking is isn't MUCH better than the 28-135. At 400 it can be quite iffy. Handy if you can't get close however.
Now a F2.8 400...no...must...stop...now.
