Went to a local pond today to see if the ducklings had hatched, as I saw them last year but never got around to taking any pics. As you can see, they had! Might go back this week with my polarising filter and a mental note to try a smaller aperture...

FPC - Great photos as ever!
Duck Pond - Fantastic set, love the Weasel in particular.
More Boar from me. I played guide at the weekend for another photographer but still managed to grab a few I was happy with. This was by far the longest encounter I've had yet, over four hours with this one sounder, made up of two sows and seven piglets.

Lovely shot, again
Went to a talk this eve with one of the top Forestry Commission guys from the forest of dean about the boar. Surprised by how balanced his view was and also by how high the numbers are thought to be at the moment (which I believe from his stats and explanation). 438 animals as a fairly definite figure meaning perhaps closer to 500-600 as a realistic figure, certainly more than the Friends of the boar claim are left. But who knows
Nice balanced talk that enlightened me a little as to the long-term management issues and prospects for the FoD boar population. Must go back and get some beeter pics soon

Couple of shots of a fascinating male adder seen at the weekend in local woods. They're so small compared to grass snakes, but approachable (with care) and have such stunning markings.
Will be after more shots when the weather is warmer... Shame they're so rare and elusive, and have such (unfair) bad press.

Cheers.
What processing would you suggest? I've never done any of that & would end up downloading GIMP to try. I was still playing with the different modes on the camera at the time & once I download & read the manual I might be able to get a better picture to start with.

Maybe a little more contrast might be nice - some packages have 'localised contrast' tools that can give a photo a bit more 'pop'. Plus some sharpening would bring out the details a bit more
Hope this helps.

The 'washed out' effect you're seeing may be lens flare - if bright light hits the front lens element it can effect the image contrast. It's one of the reasons for using lens hoods
I'm not a wildlife photographer but sometimes on my travels I see something that is crying out to be photographed.

That's exactly the sort of thing I headed out to get today. Unfortunately not a Robin in sight when you need one!Instead, I had to settle on a couple of pairs of tits. They did not like the shutter sound.
