Bought a new macro lens recently - Canon's 100mm L lens. It's superb.

Dragonfly - not sure of the ID yet...
Female common darter, both very nice pics. Would love to get any dragonfly pic that clear and detailed smile

Thanks for the ID - it was sat low in the grass, and didn't fly off when I stuck the lens in its face. Well, not immediately anyway.

Shameless plug......

60mm no flash. Considering a 100mm L series though and dumping the 60mm.

That has some serious detail, I'm tempted by that lens.

On a somewhat larger scale:

DD, I'm disappointed. London. So many bridges, so few photos.

Bridges crossed?

Water flowed under?

So long as you are not in London with a mind to photograph eek "The Shard" you are forgiven.

BTW I am most envious of your recent macro results. Very nicely executed. (Not the bugs executed of course, or so I assume.)

Thanks for the comment on the macros smile

I haven't actually shot the bridge for ages but I am getting the odd hankering so you never know!

It's very late but having just got around to uploading these to my PC I just had to sneak one out. The Amur Leopard is the rarest cat in the wild, with something like only 35 adults out there. Fortunately there is a very strong breeding program and hopes are high that animals bred in captivity will soon be able to be released into the wild. This little cub has a good chance of helping that program.

We actually had some sun yesterday so I poped out to shoot some BIF and meet up with a mate who just got a 400/2.8mkII

This shot with my 400/5.6, full frame.

Heres the 8mb full size jpg if your interested. www.zarphag.com/tmp/_MG_0442.jpg

This is on the mkII with 2.0c at 800 , f7.1, most of the frame.

Overall I preferred using the 5.6 as it was much easier to get lined up and working than the wimberly but I guess that takes practice. You can handhold the 2.8 but not for long! And IMO the risk of dropping it is too much for my wallet...
