I was in Southern Ireland a couple of weeks ago with Mrs Hooli. On the way I picked up a new camera in Tescos, a Fujifilm T200 for £72 ex-demo. It's a lot better than my old one.

I seemed to keep taking duck pics too, so here's a few that suit the thread.

Something fishy - The fish was about 12" deep I'm surprised you can even see it tbh.

Duck

Mrs Duck

And others

C&C Welcome, I already know they aren't up to the standard of this thread smile

There is a bit more contrast than the others - think a subtle amount of processing might just bring out the best in the shot as well smile

Fantastic boar shots biggrin and love the Wall-E shot. One of my favourite movies that.

A few offerings from me to this (already very good) thread...

Pop goes the weasel...

Not the sharpest of shots, but it was taking place amongst the shade of some stinging nettles below the hide. A grass snake, failing to eat a toad, despite trying for a few mins to swallow it.

A common seal pup on a sand bank in Norfolk

And a male otter, who was looking at where he could hear a machine gun of shutter sounds coming from!

Another great set Duck Pond.thumbup

A bit like your grass-snake, a Merganser biting off more than it can chew.

Cheers.
What processing would you suggest? I've never done any of that & would end up downloading GIMP to try. I was still playing with the different modes on the camera at the time & once I download & read the manual I might be able to get a better picture to start with.

Weymouth sea front a few weeks ago, was sitting having a coffee and noticed the bird feeding on an adjacent table, caught it just right I think!

FPC - Great photos as ever!

Duck Pond - Fantastic set, love the Weasel in particular.

More Boar from me. I played guide at the weekend for another photographer but still managed to grab a few I was happy with. This was by far the longest encounter I've had yet, over four hours with this one sounder, made up of two sows and seven piglets.

There was a wildcat that lived around here ... died in Jan aged at least 23! We all called it 'Gimpy' as it had one eye, was deaf and a bent tail. God knows how it survived that long. People started leaving out catfood towards the end as it was pretty obvious the thing wasn't going to catch much.

We haven't seen any Golden Eagles since this chap (and his Mrs) arrived - White Tailed Sea Eagle. He's MASSIVE - 8 foot wingspan. They are nesting on Shieldaig Island, so the RSPB decided to bung a camera looking at the nest.... the birds saw this and promptly built another nest about 50 yards away.... so now in the village shop there's a widescreen TV showing a live feed of a bunch of twigs hehe

Here's a montage of 3 shots I've managed to get. I need a longer lens!

The RSPB must have the same advisors as SNH. They have just built a fancy new bird hide locally with a popular dog walkers' footpath 50 yards IN FRONT OF IT !!!!
Motorbikes and ashtrays come to mind.

Lovely shot, again smile

Went to a talk this eve with one of the top Forestry Commission guys from the forest of dean about the boar. Surprised by how balanced his view was and also by how high the numbers are thought to be at the moment (which I believe from his stats and explanation). 438 animals as a fairly definite figure meaning perhaps closer to 500-600 as a realistic figure, certainly more than the Friends of the boar claim are left. But who knows smile

Nice balanced talk that enlightened me a little as to the long-term management issues and prospects for the FoD boar population. Must go back and get some beeter pics soon biggrin

smile

Maybe a little more contrast might be nice - some packages have 'localised contrast' tools that can give a photo a bit more 'pop'. Plus some sharpening would bring out the details a bit more

Hope this helps.
