It's here!

I'm trying to discipline myself to read all the instructions - so far it seems very logical.

Enjoy.

I would imagine the phrase

" like a dog with 2 d1ck$ " would fit well in this situation.

Your cat needs sorting though, it's neither bothered about your new toy, or interested in jumping in the box.

Well I was tempted to stag it and make a quick buck (oops, mixed metaphors) but I think I'll keep it after all
Cat wasn't interested as camera fell into category 'not meat'.
I guess the reason for reading the manual was to get away from Idiot Mode, because I'd get to rely on it too much. I want to fly this mutha!
Some of the functions, like zooming in to a recorded image, are a bit awkward, but overall everything is very clear and intuitive. There are also different ways to get to the same function (ie via thumbwheel or menu). But I have found Exposure Compensation!

Using JPG 'fine' compression, and 'large' image size, images are about 2.5Mb. For trivial stuff this is needlessly big - what is better, to increase compression or reduce image size?

Have you found some way to turn this off?, when you press "enter" on Mrs CVP's D70 it immediately zooms right in to the picture rather than displaying most of it and then allowing you to zoom in. Read the manual but can't see some kind of custom function she's set. Any ideas?

Just stick one of your 512MB cards in and fire away you'll get approx 140-150 on a card. You can always save in Photoshop at more compression if you want to decrease file size.

Have fun..it's a top notch bit of kit. Has the cat resigned himself to a lot of posing tonight?

Haven't found that trick - but you could press the tiny 'reset' button underneath to restore defaults. I think a sequential pressing of the magnify button would have been better (like my little Olympus!)

1Gb here pal! It's just that I don't often need 2.5Mb images.

Certanly has! Apart from resizing and compressing, this is as it came from the camera:

Excellent...

I think you deserve a 'Sad Git' T shirt for setting all the bits out and taking a pic of 'em.

Have fun.

Ah but what is photography if not to catch and save forever a fleeting moment 'twould otherwise be lost?

It also marks the day when I (very probably) took my last frame of film... a profound thought indeed.

Aye . . . times certainly change . . . I still remember the excitement as I developed my first film of Pan-Fm shot on a Voightlander Vito-B with seperate exposure meter . . . then spent ages trying to print it . . . ;-)

Now it's on the PC 30 seconds after you take it . . . and drops through your door on paper 2 days later . . . if you want it to ;-)

What will things be like in another 20 years ?

Fd - there'll certainly be no such thing as photos and your grand kids will wonder why you ever bothered!

Who knows, but 3d images would strike me as likel...

The Victorians beat you to it - stereo pairs of pics taken 3-4" apart and viewed in a special viewer. I just happen to have one - and a gadget to do the spacing - and must make some stereo digital colour prints one day
