Lots of people on here take incredibly good photos, but it has occurred to me that if you chose the subject, location and everything that the picture itself is made much easier. Add to this a little fettling in Photoshop and hey presto a cracking pic!

How about this?

Each week someone pics a boring subject and anyone who wants to posts a pic. No alteration, just straight from the camera. See if you can make something ordinary look interesting and artistic!

Interesting idea?

No PS - hmm... OK, I'll have a crack at that.

D70, straight from the camera, no cropping or nuffink (just used PS to resize and compress)

We arranged to do this with a little competition system.

I'm about to start writing the software for it - I've just come out of an operation at hospital and am rest-ridden for a month or so.

Sorry chaps, you've lost me. Someone said 'post a picture of a boring subject that hasn't been tweaked' so I did. What's this about a competition with special software, themes etc?

Lighting by hydrogen fusion only, no flash required
1/125 at f14 with -0.3EV to reduce burnout. Damn I love this camera!

(Sorry about the orange, this is England you know!)

Hydrogen fusion???

I would ask what -0.3EV meant too, but I should be able to answer that in the info you sent me.

I'm guessing he's talking about something that with record the results of the competition based on the votes received. I doubt he's writing a new version of Photoshop from his sick bed!

I could be wrong though.

While you're editing a post, there's a link to the left of where you type - 'Formatting Codes'. That tells you how to embed an image in your post. As for somewhere to store the image, I think a lot of people on here use Fotango (and the rest have their own online space).

Seems an interesting idea. I don't have Photoshop so can't compete in the tweeking stakes anyway.

I vote ex-Biker comes up with the subject matter 1st time.

Something ordinary to look interesting and artistic? Hmm, a Volvo 340?

Chim Girls right, I'm not going to write a new PS thats next years Uni coursework. Honest!

No, my website (www.stefancarlton.net) is also been upgraded and one of things I'm going to add is a "competition" where the members of this forum can submit a picture on a given topic and then we hold a vote on which is the best. No prize (we'll organise somethign for the yearly winner I reckon though) and just a bit of fun.

We'd have a set of simple rules, one of which would regard the work you can do in PS to try and level the field between myself (don't how to use PS) and the pros who do.

This sounds like a good idea to me.
I assume on camera filtration would still be allowed?
Also there would have to be plenty of time for none digital people like me to get the films developed, scanned and submitted.
