I used to judge a car photo competition for a magazine. I loved it when, instead of the shiny finish with pristine wheels, I received an image of a fly-spattered front number plate and pad material on the front alloys, with a bit down the side.

Worse still, there were photos of cars done up for a wedding but without the bride. My wife wouldn't let me choose one of those.

I think a person in a picture of a car can makes it. It's not easy though, but if they do fit in, it got my vote and as I was the only one to vote . . .

I do love a clean car, but yes, but there is something good about a car that's dirty because of of a good run out (not just traffic/road grime).

My car had considerably more flies/wasps and other stingy, itchy critters squished on by the time I got home.

I haven't done selective colouring for like 5 years, but I decided to try it again on a fairly boring photo from Brugge, Belgium.

My 3 runabouts. Not a particularly good photo, but it's rare that they are likely to appear on the same piece of tarmac at the same time.

I like that, decent image, nice background. I keep trying to do the same with my car but not really venturing more than about fifty miles from home limits the potential backgrounds.
