Had 15 minutes to capture some drift action on Saturday, not normally 'my scene' but it's great fun from a photography perspective...

Some amazing shots there considering they were taken through the fence! The rest of your album is just as impressive, as are your drifting and Goodwood FOS shots. How are you finding the Z5 compared to the other cameras you've used? And I assume you're using a DLSR Sigma lens via an FTZ adaptor?Silverstone Classic by Chris Harrison, on Flickr

Yep Z5, FTZ adaptor and the latest Contemporary version of the Sigma 100-400mm.Slightly on the fence about it, the Z5s are my wedding cameras so that takes priority and I love them for that, but they aren't ideal for motorsport, AF just isn't quite solid enough (I've tried the Nikon 200-500mm too). Solid enough to get by with, but my hit rate is certainly down.
The main cameras previously have been the Sony a7III and the Fuji X-T2, both 'better' for motorsport with native glass than this set up but it's fairly marginal
If I was starting from scratch with an unlimited budget I'd go with a Sony a7III and Sony 100-400mm, not a cheap line up for a hobby though considering I'm lucky to get to 3 or 4 events a year, they just happen to have all come within a month this year!

Thanks for the feedback. It’s interesting to hear you say that the X-T2 is marginally better than the Z5 for motorsport. I’m still using my Olympus EM5 Mk1 and am debating going full frame. Would you say that the Z5 is better all round than the A7? I guess it depends on lens range & availability. Apologies for the thread derail.
I think it's only behind the Fuji because the native telephoto options just aren't there right now. The original a7? The Z5 is miles ahead of that (and the a7II), I'd put the Z5 bang in the middle between the a7RII and a7III in terms of speed and all round ability.
The Nikon Z system is still pretty basic unless you're willing to use the FTZ adaptor, the Sony system is certainly more rounded and has excellent third party lenses from the likes of Tamron and Sigma now too which are far more affordable than the Sony glass. But you'd really need an a7III (a7RII at a push) to make the most of it.
Depends on budget I guess but I needed two identical bodies with dual card slots which removed the older Sony's, and the total price difference between the a7III and Z5 was fairly substantial taking that into account. If I didn't need multiple cameras for work I'd have one a7III in a heartbeat.

Posted this on the drone pics thread but I guess it's applicable here too First attempt shooting a car with my Mini 2:
