Some cracking pics so far, some of which I remember and many of which I've missed across the year. Great chance to bolster the flickr faves smile

In no particular order from me:

After a prolonged photographic dry spell- I say "dry" but mostly it had been raining- everything fell into place for this: back on the road after many car-less weeks; new camera; perfect conditions.

mind:blown by AndWhyNot, on Flickr

The all-nighters are finally starting to hit me hard so I've been shooting more in daylight; this was a welding glass job.

Jutting Out by AndWhyNot, on Flickr

PHers Evora- this shoot changed my mind about the Lotus, hadn't been a fan until I got up close and personal (with the car, not the PHer).

Lots Of Time Under Starlight by AndWhyNot, on Flickr

Way back in May I took over a gallery space for an interactive exhibition lasting a couple of weeks. With blacked out windows I spent my free time lightpainting in the day for a change. Included here as it was my first attempt at the "lens cap trick": start the exposure and lightpaint in position one; move camera and lightpaint in position 2.

This Legographer now goes everywhere with me and I use him it as a theme across my phoneography, snapping the random textures, scenes & mishaps that intrigue me on a daily basis and sharing them at http://www.facebook.com/Legography/

The last one was an amazing moment, to have such an elusive bird of prey so close to us. Flew too close to fit it all in the shot. smile

Only had my camera a few months so still lots of catching up to get near some of the members on here but always inspiring see others work and try to use their techniques and compositions. Need to practice more landscapes but some of the wildlife ones turned out ok.

Some cracking imagery in here, although that first one of yours 'AndWhyNot' is spectacular, as is the lightning shot from the first page.

Had a busy year this year, and 2013 is set to look even better so let's hope the world doesn't end! Most of these images are ones I enjoy simply for the memories of the jobs themselves. Makes the winter trudge into work seem worthwhile looking through these.

Flying towards Goodwood in formation, from the rear gun of the Lancaster:

Flying out over the coast in the rear seat of 29(R)Sqns BE Typhoon, looking through the HUD:

Non-work related for a moment, a shot I grabbed on the drive home last weekend:

Back at work, and out training with the fire-crews:

Finally, the Diamond-Nine Typhoon formation practicing for the Jubilee celebrations. I was inverted in a Typhoon 100ft or so above the guys to get this. Taken on our way over Lincolnshire:

Seeing the quality in here (particularly of the landscapes) makes me want to head out with the camera while I'm off over Christmas and try some new stuff out. Really top work by everyone.

Just spent a good 20 minutes from this going through the awesome shots posted up and adding contacts I've somehow missed previously from on here.

Some absolutely stunning shots in this thread. Mine don't compete on the same level but it was still tough to pick a top 5. I only got my camera in April of this year, so with this being my first year of photography, I'm just pleased there are so many shots I am quite happy with!

To be honest while a lot of the shots in this thread will have been taken with cameras ranging from quite expensive to very expensive indeed you could achieve most of them with any reasonable SLR.

I use a Canon 7d and sigma 10-20, as well as sigma 17-70.

Unfortunately you can't buy the ability to see the shot. I should know, I've been trying!

Can't get close to competing with any of the photos posted so far and feeling inspired and perhaps a tad depressed in equal measure at the moment!

Anyway, some of my favourites of the year. Hardly used my camera this year but have just got hold of a macro lens so hopefully will get a bit more use in the coming months:

Shadows in the Forest by South West Wildlife, on Flickr

Went to the Forest of Dean just to find boar and it worked (mum's back is in the background):

Baby boar bums by South West Wildlife, on Flickr

Got very close at a lovely reserve on a very nice calm morning:

Roe doe - Clapton moor, July 2012 by South West Wildlife, on Flickr

Failed to get any really spectacular pics at Westonbirt in the autumn but it's still an awesome place to visit:

Sun through the trees by South West Wildlife, on Flickr

And only because it's from my sister's wedding and was a great day 9and i made the place names and holders):

Have barely even sorted or edited any pics since about May ( frown ) so this is just the best I can find, I'll go back to admiring other peoples pics now smile

The vast majority of my personal work is related to Urban Exploration, and free climbing, I get very emotionally attached to my photos and the memories of risking 'life and limb' climbing stupid things to get the shot.

1. Paris road trip, 3 days solid underground then 2 days climbing, alongside traveling around the whole of france.

Human Bones

2. Cwmorthin Slate Mine

Internal waterfall

Bridge of DEATH (just to the left is a good 300ft drop)

3. Middleton Mine

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge

4. Manchester Road Trip, 3 days of rooftopping, lift surfing, abseiling and base jumping.

5. Wiltshire Wonderland

Unknown to most, wiltshire as a county is pretty hollow underneath, with everything from nuclear bunkers to vast mines.

I know I know, thats 6, sssshhhhh
