I don't believe it...

The replacement Olympus Mju410 arrived today from those nice people at Amazon.
95% of it is the same as the Mju300, so no problems working it. But hang on, what's this in the Modes menu?
'Cuisine mode'
(blinks and rubs eyes)
Yep, Cuisine mode
CUISINE MODE!!!
What the s that all about then? Does it have a bacon and eggs sub menu? Jeez, you couldn't make it up!
Please tell me someone put it in there for a laugh?

without wishing to dish your dinner, that looks terrible imo! uke:
To be fair it wasn't that luminous, I just used quickie XP size reduction which screws the reds.
So do we think that Cuisine Mode is:
A) A highly useful phtography mode that brings out the true lustre and taste of all types of dish
or
B) Utter tripe cooked up by a desperate PR agency?
Obviously designed to put Food Stylists out of a job.
From the Olympus website, and I quote...
"Three New Scene Program Modes....In addition to Portrait, Night Scene, Landscape Portrait, Landscape, and Self Portrait modes, new Beach & Snow, Cuisine, and Indoor modes have been added to the Scene Program function. Using the various modes, it's easy to take beautiful photos in virtually any situation....
Cuisine: Automatically enhances color tones to ensure that food looks more delicious. Depending on the light level, it can be used in combination with the flash.
Judging the above pictures, one can assume that either Cuisine Mode is nothing other than a "re-labelling" of standard photographic control parameters for the masses, or, Cuisine Mode is an absolutely stunning feature that we all need, that unfortunately shows up SimpoTwo's culinary skills! (sorry Simpo! )

ie 'Automatically buggers up the true colour...'
Actually the nosh was jolly tasty, despite appearances, but all credit goes to the takeaway! My cooking is limited to Chicken Ding.
Anyway, after reading that drivel I'm off to hug a real camera

Looks like my first statement was correct then ! Actually, looking at those two pictures it looks like all it does is close down one stop. Yes the peppers look more saturated and shiny, there's more contrast giving shape to the chicken pieces and they look less washed out, but... the rice looks greyer than a 10 year old pair of underpants !!
