Stunning!
May I ask a quick question... you mentioned that you possibly earn more from workshops etc. than print sales, so is the medium format digital gear you use paying for itself?
I think you have me mistaken with Mark Mullen.. I shoot canon/sony 35mm not MF, what I earn would go nowhere towards MF gear!May I ask a quick question... you mentioned that you possibly earn more from workshops etc. than print sales, so is the medium format digital gear you use paying for itself?
Mind you, it shows the equipment isn't everything - the images you post are fantastic.

Currently waiting for the wedding season to kick off, so I leapt at the chance to go and shoot a couple of catwalk shows at the London Fashion Weekend yesterday.

Not sure what the answer is, but on my screen it's managed to come out both noisy and not very sharp. Were you using a Tokina or Nikkor 12-24mm?Can't compare directly, but with my 11-16mm I'd have stuck it at f/2.8 and trusted it to come out reasonably sharp and you'd have gotten away with a lower ISO. Not sure if the 12-24 can be used much the same way. (Nice composition though, which is perhaps the most important thing.)
I'm the first to admit that I'm a rank amateur at astro mind, and the Tokina 11-16mm seems to produce keepers for astro regardless of what I do - this was at ISO 400 and one of the first shots I took that night, and I've had others at ISO 200 even on an ancient 400D - it really does sort itself out:

Looks like your WB is a little cool, and the exposure time is a little too long giving a little trail to the stars making them look like short lines.Orion_Over_Waverley_Bridge by natureiser, on Flickr
Try the '500' rule, divide 500 by your focal length ( after crop factor) and shoot up to that ( though it really depends on a whole lot more thats easy to remember).
A couple of (roughly) the same shot from morning and afternoon. If I had the chance again, I'd have marked the spot the first time.

I think next time I will stick with a prime and try some focus stacking and pano with shorter exposures and lower iso to get the scene in.
First time in a while that I've been anywhere worth taking a picture of.

First DH mountain bike race of the season for me last weekend. Very muddy and tricky, even catching out one of the worlds best riders! Awesome day!
