I'm curious how you managed to get this shot. Long arms or some kind of rig?

Great shot BTW.
One tripod leg tied firmly to back of headrest. Other two legs resting on some foam pads on the sill, they are locked in position so can't move much but some tape ensures they don't slide.
Then the car was moved along our drive at less than walking pace while I used a remote to fire the shutter with a long exposure.

Thanks mate. Dunno if you've been there? In 44 years I've never been anywhere in the UK like it. It was so bleak and desolate...in spite of the bright sunshine and blue skies.

Some decades ago I drove through one of the more desperate parts of Glasgow late on a Sunday afternoon. It left me with the same feelings ....

If not unique in Britain it's certainly pretty close. Apparently it is regarded as Britains's only desert.

I went for the first time a year or so ago and, yes, it is bleak but fascinating. Not sure I got any worthwhile pictures but I'll take a look.

Can't say i have ever been there! I've been to some very remote places in the UK though, but none like that. Mainly in the highlands of Scotland.

Motorsport at the Palace again last weekend. 3 years ago I went as a spectator and used the shots I took to get in the next year for a bit as press. This year I was given press pass for both days and was roaming trackside. Good fun. Here are a few:

For the same sort of "has there been a nuclear war and no-one told me" feelings, try Orford Ness in Suffolk.

Got this tonight with the Samyang 14mm - strange extra bit of rainbow to the left, any ideas?

Spurn Point in East Yorkshire is very much like that. Also great for photography.

I love Dungeness, as you say it's one of the strangest places in the UK and is famed for it's light - a whole series of artists have set up down there over the years. Great set of photos too.

A few different images I put together for a local rock band's new album, they've already chosen but which one would you choose?

It is a bit of a 'wierd' place isn't it - went there a couple of years ago to a mooch arouns and to take some photo's and although it is very desolate it has it's own beauty as well. here are a couple from my trip

PS - If you liked Dungeness then also have a trip to Orfordness in suffolk. It's a huge shingle 'spit' that was used by the MOD and AWRE for weapons testing. It is very like Dungeness but with lots of old military 'stuff' to visit/photograph.

Friend was borrowing a model to practice her wedding photography and build up her portfolio; I joined in to have a go too, quite pleased with some of the results (much easier than animals that move around and can play with the settings on the same shots). Did show up how much more light she could use with her lenses than mine though, might need to invest.
