Bass Rock, Firth of Forth, Scotland
Home to a large seabird colony, especially gannets apparently. You can just about see them flying over and around the rock.
Apparently there are plans to build a couple of offshore wind "farms" nearby with the blade tips travelling at high speed right into the area of "cruising height" of a gannet when it is out fishing.

It prints quite nicely at A4. Smaller print versions have the white birds over the rock turning black as the sharpening kicks in. So much detail is lost at 6x4 or even a little larger.

An incredibly uniform orange sunset over the Peak on Wednesday - felt like sitting inside an orange tent, with not a trace of blue to my eyes. This has had no extra saturation, vibrancy, contrast or colour slider settings, just a lift to the exposure, white and a reduction to highlights and blacks. Looks pretty much as I remember it.

Great picture. The sky over Brighton was also tremendous on Wednesday. I was cursing driving home from work without my camera. Sun setting over the Peak by David Hawkes, on Flickr

On days with relatively still air and a lot of evening jets passing overhead (Mostly September/October and March/April) such sights are relatively common.Sun setting over the Peak by David Hawkes, on Flickr
Having a cleanish horizon, however, is not - at least not around my way and not so easy to get to one in the few minutes after these sights confirm an appearance then vanish once again.

Nice result DD.Solid cloud cover here today. Nothing obviously interesting to worry a lens so some garden chores undertaken instead.
A detail shot of the clay mounds/hills at the Painted Hills, one of Oregon's hidden gems in the Oregon high desert area that I stumbled upon completely by accident when first out there in 2010, this time round I was armed with the 5Dsr to capture it's beauty in a whole different way.

Played around with this dust print left by a pigeon which hit the glass of the back door.
