Slightly different overall exposure of the same image. Not at its best crushed for the web - not that it's fantastic to start with. But the early part of sunset was notably vibrant in places so worth a grabbed shot.
I would welcome comments about which works best (or at all!). I've spent too much time comparing to be able to make a decision.

Thanks DD and Weary.
The compression is quite useful here. The slightly lighter version makes the noise effects in the darker lower areas more obvious at full size. Well, it is a G11 trying to shoot dark green and dark brown in areas that are somewhat under exposed so there are limits to expectations.
Leaving it dark (Upper image) helps but when crushed for web flattens the luminous fields too much (IMO). A slight lift of exposure seems to help - at least enough for the 750px width.
It was very much a "stop the car and grab it" shot. I think it works better when larger - except for the darker areas. Normally not something with which I would go public but the light was rather nice at the time so I thought it might be worth sharing.
Further comments very welcome.

Another trip down to Cornwall, good to get up in the air again as it feels like it's been a rare occurrence this year. Hopefully one more trip down in December though..

Did you shoot that using RAW mode? (I am assuming the camera used offers RAW mode.)
If so you could have some extra fun processing the file with different White Balance settings. The street lights give is a yellow colouring - much as it actually is at the time. But by changing the White Balance you could move it more to looking like a daylight shot if you wanted to. I think that might work quite well. It would be interesting to compare.
It's very easy to make the change for a RAW file. For a jpg file the White balance value is already burned in to things can be changed but not in quite the same way and, usually, not quite as effectively.
Unfortunately not bud, I didn`t shoot it in RAW. Again, something to make sure that I do in future...If so you could have some extra fun processing the file with different White Balance settings. One from a while back. I processed a later shot from the series at the time but fancied a play so did a bit of work on this one which is a wee bit different. And it was possibly the best sunset I've ever shot so why not
