My own somewhat less sharp lake reflection from Wales: Single shot at 10mm

You might think it's less sharp, but the sharpness is the main thing that stands out for me between this and my own less impressive shots of Lake Vyrnwy from a few years ago. What camera and lens is this, please?

ETA - I know it's not just down to equipment, but it's a starting point as I try to figure out why I'm having trouble achieving this kind of quality.

Can't be sure but I would guess it's a Nikon, maybe the D300S? Lens I would guess at a 10-20 zoom, on 10mm.

I reckon it was shot at f10, maybe 1/400 of a second exposure.

Got to be ISO 200 if those were the other settings.

Call me intuitive, but I'm beginning to think there may be some way I could find all this out from the flickr post.

Seriously though, that's good and bad in equal measures, in that I'm not looking at a photo from a camera with a much higher resolution than I'm using myself - also on ~12mp. So possibly a lens issue, or a taker issue, or light thing.

smile Maybe it's just Lightroom tweaking and then Flickr resizing that sharpened it up, it didn't look great originally!

The exif is all there on Flickr, so yes D300S, f10, 1/400, iso 200, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm.

It was balanced on the wall of the reservoir as I can't hand hold anything!

We view 1000px ( 700ish on ph?) sharpness in this situation is often more about how things are downsampled and sharpened than actual technique shooting it

True - although it sounds like the camera was probably about as well supported as it could ever be for the avoidance of any movement. That would not hinder the result ...

Thanks for that - I was wondering whether my being too lazy to carry a tripod was part of it, so that's another thing ruled out. I must practice more perhaps with processing, and while I do take raw+jpg, I must admit I rarely do much with the raw versions.

Do you want to borrow my camera for a week Rob?

It doesn't seem to work like yours does.

Gorgeous light.
