Hi guys,

I have been mega busy the last few months with my son racing bikes, shooting for a new bike company launch and the best part having a contract to shoot for a new National Mountain bike team. Well, the best part is getting paid very well by them both!

Just finished the first round of one of biggest national downhill series and wrote a race report for the team which was very well received. This was featured on the home page of the world biggest MTB website which is a huge honour!

It is here if anyone fancies a look the link is below and a few random pics from the last few weeks.

One I took a couple of years ago, have since upgraded camera body & lens so hope to get some better shots this season, any pointers please?

Hand held, jpeg straight from camera though I do also have a RAW file.

Pretty scene but needs a focal point - ie a young lady sitting in amongst the flowers or some such smile

I agree. It would make a great background.

I'd add that the small aperture or possibly the inexpensive lens means that the whole picture is sort of in focus and the problem with that is that it doesn't give an impression of depth.

Stop using Thumbsnap if you want your pictures to look at their best on this thread. There's a reason why nearly everybody here uses Flickr.

Thanks, sort of like this (I know the composition is out on this)?

Exactly that thumbup

The composition is not far off either, just needed the pooch a wee bit nearer the middle (but not right in the middle!)

If you're serious can I also suggest trying Flickr rather than Thumbsnap (as it squishes the pics and makes them look soft).

In my opinion it's a shame you didn't take a few more while the dog was in that position. I expect the grass in front of its face could be got rid of with a bit of Photoshop work but the tongue looks lop-sided and distracting to me. Still, if that's what it looks like usually then it will make a fine picture for the family.
