Spectacular sight. Great work as ever. Always love coming back to this thread. Amazing talent on PH. Beam me up by Rob Dickinson, on Flickr
One of my recent efforts. Bit of a back story to this. Renovating our house and have knocked through some crappy cladding above the stair case to reveal a big bit of vertical wall just begging for a great big print to be hung there (wall is 2.5 high). I need a vertical panorama and had an idea of shooting the Milkyway above Sycamore Gap. New moon last week and good weather so I trekked up there on my lonesome at 11pm only to find 6 other people with the same idea.
Didn't get the milkyway (need to some more reading up to better understand timing and orientation) but I did like this.

Cheers Rob. Been using photopils and thought I had it sussed but MW seems to move around a lot as if the phone orinetation keeps recalibrating. So one minute I'd hold the phone up towards the tree and it would suggest the MW should be shot. Next time I look, it's saying way off to the left etc. Putting it down to user error for now but need to do some homework on it. But yes, inclined to agree. Not sure MW would add much here. Still on my to do list though
Been very lazy and less inclined to do anything with my camera, but I'm aiming to turn that around, so here are a few I grabbed from Alcatraz in 2015, album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskVXxUxC

I wouldn't mind a critique thread on here - I'm never quite sure how to improve, what works and what doesn't.

Down in Northumberland yesterday and took the RX10iii for walkabout duties - brilliant as it is I prefer the RAW files out of the Fuji particularly for landscapes. Much better resolution and colour rendition IMHO - hardly shock news I guess

After reading an article about Harold Ross and his "sculpting with light" technique, I thought I'd give it a go. This is a composite of a number images, layered and masked in PSE. I'm lucky in that my brother-in-law has a workshop full of old automobilia!

A most interesting composition Mike.
The foreground colour mix is not something one sees everyday in Landscapes.
Is that the RAW as processed by PS Elements?
If so, do you fancy sharing the file with me to see what Capture One can do?
I think the 600mm end of the lens works well based on the pics you've posted previously but I'm interested to see how C1 processing compares at the wide end with so much small detail potentially available a the wider end.. That foreground looks like a nice play area for such activity!
