PS - FAO Singlecoil, I spent fecking ages cloning out all manner of gubbins from the background and am officially and finally finished!
I appreciate your efforts . I'm guessing you don't use a tripod, I suppose it would be pointless having a less bulky/heavy camera if you did.DibblyDobbler said:

Interesting - what makes you say that? I do carry a tripod but didn't use it for this one...I hope you don't mind me saying that, it's only because I admire your work and I love the way you tackle difficult subjects where there is a lot of human element. It makes your work more approachable from my POV, I find landscapes with no sign that mankind even exists much less involving.

/\ This.I'd rather see something you can relate to, and in the case of the Kelpies above; it's a human landscape, it ought to be fine to have humans in it! I'd rather see it left alone than have people who've obviously been edited out but left their reflections behind in the water. Not intended as criticism at all because Mr Dobbler's worst is way beyond my best, just an observation

Absolutely this! I find many of the landscapes on here a strange mix of "Oh, my God, that's an amazing piece of technical excellence" and "....it's actually a bit boring". Well, we're all different, innit

Cheers - you're bang on with the reflections actually, should have spotted that. My own preference is to produce an image which pleases me - if that means cloning/editing/filters/HDR etc etc then so be it (each to their own obviously - it's entirely personal choice). But if I'm going to b*gger about with a pic then I should at least do it properly! Definitely final attempt this time - no more feedback please!

I like that Mike (as well as the others recently.)It prompted two further ideas.
A very long exposure to see how it might work out. But with clouds retaining details as here so that might be a bit tricky to get.
A very low angle shot to see if it is possible to obscure the building roof line yet still retain something with a natural feel and appeal.
It might need quite a wide angle lens to be able to include enough foreground water in the composition.

Thanks Both good suggestions - on a 'proper' photography trip I probably would have tried a longer exposure but I was already trying the patience of Mrs DD as you might imagine...It prompted two further ideas.
