These were just taken for the Gumtree add, sold my gibson after owning for 15 years (half my lifetime) very sad to see it go, but it hasn't been played in years!

Still learning, but really enjoying the experience and the challenges
(very) early morning start to get to Llanberis for dawn to capture what's left of Lone Tree at sunrise

The clouds lifted slightly a bit later and gave me a nice sunrise

Rest of the album here if anyone's interested

As usual, constructive criticism welcomed - all part of the learning process for me. I'm gradually getting better technically, but decent composition is still eluding me. For what its worth, I like the first shot better than the second, but I can't help feeling that the trees on the right are a bit "fussy" and distracting. The second shot has the added interest of the sunrise colour, and the simpler composition, but the low clouds just wouldn't clear for long enough to get a really nice sky.

I really like the second one actually Nigel! The foreground is fab - if it was me I'd lop a bit off the top and put the horizon on the upper third and then add a bit of 'dehaze' to give it some punch. Just my 2p worth
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. If I take a bit off the top, is there not the danger that the colours in the water won't obviously be a reflection of the clouds (or am I over-analysing?)Sadly, my PP skills don't (yet) run to de-hazing, partly because I'm only using LR6 (yes, I know that the same effect can be achieved with some downloadable presets, but its a lot of faff)

Just keep at it and you'll get the hang of what works for you and what doesn't - a lot of it is right time, right place and experimentation
