That photo is so nice in a lot of ways. Well done. I have to say though that when I saw it, I immediately thought of the Verger on Dad's Army. smile:

That Glen Coe pic is absolutely lovely. May I ask what lens and settings you used for the sky. I appreciate that it's probably been through Lightroom or similar, but the basics would help me a lot as I'm still trying to get a half decent pic of the galaxy.

Yeah no worries ! It was shot on my Nikon D750 using a Tamron 15-30 2.8 - Shot at F2.8 for 30 seconds at 15mm . It has been through lightroom and 95% of my editing is done there and then photoshop for a few small adjustments, mainly colours.

I don't want to sound like the bloke who rants on about long exposure but it often leaves me rather cold and confused. However, that...

...is just one of the most amazing images I've ever seen. It's like someone actually channeled the spirit of Joseph Conrad and turned him into a photograph

lol. Famous dead author bloke. Wrote about boats and typhoons and man's hopelessness before the sea a lot. Heart of Darkness was (loosely) the story behind Apocalypse Now. Only in the Congo and with fewer helicopters rofl

^^^ One of my favorite places - never tire of these. My favorite aspect is the shutter speed - just long enough but not too long smile

The wall between the north aisle and the nave does actually lean like that, BTW.

It's really unimpressive against some of the wonderful images posted here - but I've finally managed to get a shot of the milky way!

The kit wasn't great to be honest - 70D + EF-S 10-18mm @ 10 mm + F/4.5, but I'm still very happy I got it (kinda). Location is Portland Bill.
