Photo bucket have decided to charge for 3rd party hosting. This rule came in with no warning. As you can see above, my last photo has been replaced with a tacho like image.

Photobucket intend to charge $400 p.a. for third party hosting. I can't even link my own photos to a text message!

So, I'm removing all of my images from photobucket. This will mean that all links to photos that I've posted over the years will be broken and the images lost to PH.

I estimate that I've posted 7,000 photos to this thread alone.

Oh well.......
That'll teach yer for spamming my thread with soppy cats and camels.

Your photos (with or without shadows) have been appreciated!

(I particularly liked that most recent pic of the bridge, really sharp lines....)

Hmm.

As a fellow P-bucket user for many years it is incredibly annoying that they have made this change without, as far as I can tell or remember, any advanced notice.

Presumably the ad revenue is not enough to keep them afloat. If so I appreciate that they may need to do something that feel is commercially viable for them but it might have made more sense to mention it first. They seem not to have bothered .... unless it turns out that they have been hacked and this is a new form of third party ransomware.

I would guess Google and others have sucked the market cash flow dry. Perhaps, in a way, this change is indeed a warning that the entire site is about to close to everyone?

some one write that man a bot, to go through all his posts in this thread and edit and re-link the relevant photo to its new hosting location..

+1. This thread (and the Blib custodianship) has consistently been one of the bright points of PH through the years.

Just out of interest, did you hold a paying account with Photobucket already? Mine is something like $40 a year, so I'm slightly worried they haven't got to me with a demand for $399 yet and all of my 26,000 photos are about to be nuked grumpy

I spent about half an hour trying to get a photo of lightning in Florida last year, this is the best I managed:

Personally I'm more disappointed with the cameraman.

I mean, have you ever seen a horizon MORE on the tilt?!? Must've been drunk... :shakeshead:
