Ryde Pier
For what is a simple image, I like this. The fact the pier is completely devoid of people makes me ponder the scene and I feel like there's a story there. I think this is helped by the low vantage point as it isn't from a normal 'human' perspective, so makes me feel that there wasn't even anyone there taking the shot.
If you are first on a pier when it opens early in the morning this type of shot is easy to achieve!! But I prefer Beancaker's image, I only had a Fuji X100 with me!!!

It needs a mysterious looking female figure in the far distance. Although that has probably been done before biggrin

I don't think this works sorry.

There's nothing in the frame that my eye can focus on or pick out, B&W makes it actually strain my eyes.
Fair point, but my intention was to show a "mess" of branches (there should be a collective noun for a copse of wiggly trees....)

I was aiming to get the whole frame filled with nothing but weird-shaped branches, but couldn't quite do it.

Although you'd never know it unless you're a local, Cannock Chase is actually a managed forest, full off arrow-straight pine trees - ideally, I would have liked to get one in the frame for some variation

I rarely print any of my photos let alone get them framed and hang them in full view, but this one is the exception!

Another attempt at the "painting with light" technique using an LED torch. Each item illuminated separately and then "blended" in PS ...

Agreed.

That's right up there with the very best of the genre I can remember seeing.

Bravo.
