We had a lovely sunset here today in Preston. Took a pic for posterity. I Bought myself a new digital camera last week after the old one gave up the ghost. Opted for a FujiFilm FinePix S7000 ( www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/s7000 ) so here was a change to give it a whizz.

resized and cropped and resized original shown here - the masters are at 6MP.

I'm no photo-boy so excuse me if they aren't picture perfect so to speak, but OK for a Mr snap-happy with a new camera right...?

That's what prompted me to take the photo. I was used to my old camera (FinePix 2800) always washing out bold colours. It struggled particularly with pinks and purples so I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out like this

Nice one roop.

I have (for a change) NO GUILT showing some pics of the stunning weather we've had up here - as for the past two months it's pi55ed down almost every day (and we almost got blown/swept away). Been out walking most of the day - and if there IS a god, he was smiling today (as was the dog - who is now completely knackered)

Apologies for slow d/load for modems - I refuse to squash any more than this. It's bad enough having to resize!

When you do Matt, you could always give me a nod and I'll come across and say hi

Ah i love sunsets, but with my limited photographic knowledge and an old Finepix2600 i came up with these on Ibiza

Not the most arty i admit but opinions appreciated.

I was experimenting with settings and found the camera was at its best in auto mode
One day i'll get serious into it but cant afford the likes of an SLR at the moment

Thanks for posting the pics. I love looking at your site and it is all I can do at the moment to stop myself from buying a digital SLR.
I saw a Nikon D70 with lens kit today at Costco for £702. Still more than I really want to spend. I also considered the Canon 300D which could have been had for about £530 with discount, but still can't bring myself to spend that much on a camera. The old Canon S230 will have to do me a wee bit longer.
You can have a look at some of my pics here www.aqsk40.dsl.pipex.com/stewart.htm but be warned, I have no idea how to work MS Front Page and as such most of the pics behind the thumbnails are full size i.e a couple of meg. I will sort it out one day.

Some nice pics there Stewart. (Like the westie in the snow!).

As for making the mages behind the thumbs smaller... there is a free download here >> www.xat.com called image optimizer (std). It'll do everything you want and more.

Steve,
Far be it for me to pick holes in the work of the master but is that shot a bit off level, or are my eyes getting even worse with old age?

Well spotted that man, although it's partly optical illusion due to the diagonal line at the bottom. I've adjusted it very slightly, but without the line it still looks a bit strange (like it's a lake fit for a downhill skier)..

(BTW it's no wonder I can't steer a straight line )

I love the cheap shots!

The reason you can't drive in a straight line is because there are no straight roads where you live.

Martin.
