Technically speaking, anyone flying a drone could potentially be breaking the law re line of sight. If say you have an Mavic, you have to be 50 mts up and 180mts horizontally from any bystanders.
I don’t care how good your eyesight is, you wont see it 180 mts away.
I think the general principle is you must be in a direct line of sight to where the drone is, you can’t fly it round a hill for example or in the case of the Mini range, round the back of buildings over a residential area.
I try and keep mine in direct line of sight when flying it so no matter which way i fly, conceivably i could see it if my vision was enhanced. Because if i fly that up to 51 mts, trust me you need good eyesight to see it.
That’s my view of it anyway and i might well be wrong.
It'll all be automated soon, fines the same as speed cameras etc.I don’t care how good your eyesight is, you wont see it 180 mts away.

Dougie.
If you’re flying a drone or model aircraft that’s lighter than 250g or is C0 class, you can fly closer to people than 50m and you can fly over them.

I love the extra freedom that a sub 250g drone brings, but I still use it responsibly. I wouldn't use it over people or residential areas, simply because I'd worry that they wouldn't be happy about it (despite it being within the rules).
I found a new use for mine, flying it along the ridge line and close to the chimney on a terraced house, looking for possible spots damp was getting in.Byker28i said:

Besides which, CAA Rules state you must keep 50mts away from uninvolved people and although you can over fly them, it is only for a short time.
Technically speaking, if you flew over someone 20mts up, although they are probably not in any danger, if they wanted to be pedantic, you are breaking the law.
However, it's semantics.

DJI Mavic 3 granted ‘C1’ certificate in EU
This is great news for owners, basically will mean the same rules apply as per the DJI Mavic Mini models.

Drone ban over lOndon for the funeral
Airspace restrictions
We wanted to let you know that following the death of Her Majesty The Queen a series of airspace restrictions have been put in place to cover events until the evening of 19 September. These affect all airspace users including drone flying.
Details of the central London restriction until the morning of 19 September have been published as a briefing sheet
This will be followed later this week by a separate NOTAM to cover central London and Windsor for the rest of 19 September. We will publish available links to information on the restrictions at https://airspacesafety.com/home/mourning-and-funer...
Any non-standard flight (NSF) or enhanced non-standard flight (ENSF) clearances within the London restriction, are withdrawn for the duration.

You looked at my profile didn't you
Not at all. I grew up in the Black Isle, and I spent many Sundays racing around Wester Ross on motorbikes in the 90s. And in my 30s I built the water treatment works at Shieldaig, Torridon, Alligin and Diabeg.I recognised the hills in the background and where the river Torridon goes into the Loch.
