Anyone here with this lot? If so, any comments? TIA
They approached me yesterday to do a feature. I asked for more details and they sent:
"We feature packages (images and text) to UK newspapers and our agents worldwide. Your images would be sent out with mandatory instructions stating 'Not to be used for stock, advertising, merchandising. Strictly editorial use only.'
We syndicate quality picture and video stories to UK national newspapers & most magazines in the UK, as well as media and publications around the world through our 40 foreign agents (including Time, Newsweek, Stern etc.).
You would always keep copyright and we can offer 50% of any sales made.
We are happy to work with photographers on a non-exclusive basis, so you are not tied in and you are free to use your images as you please and send them to other publications etc."

I've got no first hand experience with Rex but they're vying for much of the same business as Caters, SWNS et al. Different agencies have different specialisms- I think of Rex as having a celeb focus, but not exclusively so- so if you're likely to be making regular contributions it's worth checking they're the right agency for your genre. The terms seem pretty clear and, in my experience (with Caters) are usually upheld. Only thing I can add constructively is to push for 60/40 in your favour- 50/50 has been the opening bid from the three agencies I've used but I've always been able to push it up.
