I have been looking for a decent car rig for mounting my camera for a while. I think i am going to have to get one and then modify it to my requirements which is a shame, however, on my search on the net I came across these guys:

www.move-n-shoot.com/Europe/index.html

Am I missing the point here? What is the point of having rigs that big when you have to photoshop them out and you could easily (in most cases) have taken the photos from another vehicle!?!

Very impressive!

But I can't find any info on how the rig is fixed to the car. Does anyone know?

Fancy trying to get one of those EVO style mid-corner powerslide shots with one of those attached?

Surely the whole rig would flex whilst on the move, enforcing a super fast shutter. Which kind of defeats the object I would have thought?

Some good stuff here: www.b-hague.co.uk/Mounting%20Brackets.htm#SM1

The lightest one is 350KG.

I'm sure that there has to be a use for one...other than to scare you silly when it starts to whip around after you've hit a minor bump.

Yep, I've used B Hague for some stuff for shooting from the car, the superclamp & double joint ball affair plus suction cup clamp. All top notch Manfrotto stuff I expect to be using for many years to come.

The company were very helpful over the phone and the stuff arrived very quickly and was well packaged. Thoroughly recommended from this happy customer.

I think these are used with longish shutter speeds, and with the car being pushed along slowly.

Generally I think that's the case, but check out the video clip of the Porsche Cayenne: www.move-n-shoot.com/eng_6.htm#

I've just ordered a Superclamp and Double ball tilt heat with quick release from Hague. The main reason for getting it is to mount my camcorder to the rollcage of the car for the Noble trackday at Rockingham in March, but I'm sure I'll find a few other uses for it.
