LOL!

One would hope they update the CD's they put in the thing, but given the volumes they must make them in, maybe not.

Have fun - raw processing is a "pain" and you'll run out of hard disk space very very quickly, but it does give so much better results once you are into it you never want to go back.

I might give Rawshooter a try, as I can't really run to Capture One at the mo after a bit of a splurge on the body and a couple of lenses!

Hi Ed

I can't comment on Rawshooter as it's PC only. However, as it comes from ex Phase One employes, there must be some hope for it. If you intend to do a lot of RAW I would seriously try to rummage down the back of the sofa for some spare change for C1. After all the money you have been spending, it would be a shame to spoil the ship for a happeth (sp?) of tar!

ARC, DPP etc. all do a very decent job of producing good quality files, but, when it comes to dealing with large quantities of files. the C1 workflow works very well, IMHO, once you get the hang of it. I tend to go through each file one by one, adjusting curves, the curves 'stick' with each file and it's a doodle to apply one set of characteristics, noise, sharpen, gray balance etc. of one file to any group of similar files. With DPP you have to save 'recipes' and using ACR have to resort to scripts. The curves/adjustments are saved into a folder 'attached' to that file so if you want to revisit it in the future it will open up where you left off rather than having to start from scratch. Nine times out of ten, just hitting the auto buttons gives better results than blindly pushing and pulling sliders in other apps. Once all adjustments have been made, I 'select all' the thumbnails, hit process, and have a look at PH, or whatever, while it works in the background processing the files, to multiple destinations, jpg, tif, b&w etc, if required. It doesn't affect the speed using any other apps either.

If you like, I could bring my laptop to the next meet and give you a crash course?

Cheers
Paul

What's going to crash, the laptop or the Griff?

Well, I've had a quick play with DPP and Rawshooter, and so far Rawshooter seems to be better in terms of features and general feel.

I'll give C1 a try too as it does sound much better suited for my idea of a good workflow, but hopefully Rawshooter will do the trick.

I'd be interested to see a demo at the next meet though Paul - I could bring my laptop with Rawshooter installed and we could compare notes
